Comcast internet was down AGAIN this afternoon. I worked from 2-3 with no problem but when I came back to the computer at 4:45 to get ready for a 5-6 shift it was down. I called Comcast, they are sending someone to check my modem tomorrow. It came back on at 5pm so I logged on (2min late) and took a couple of calls. Then the phone rang but my screen did not change and "phone status" did not say "incoming call". Yep, I had a customer on the line and NO INTERNET! I had to ask her to hang up and call back in order to get someone who could help her. It came back on around 6pm (after my shift was over).
What are my options in the NE Atlanta Area? Bell South has already told me DSL is not available for my address (during last meltdown). I did a search for "DSL" and checked out Qwest. No service in Ga. Earthlink DSL is not available to my address. I don't really want a dish attched to my parent's house.
Comcast and Charter are having nothing but trouble with there internet cable. It got so bad here with charter, that we switched to Bell DSL..What a difference..Has not gone down once..
The only other option you can go to until bell puts in a Dslam in your area is Dial Up..
Heather Goodbye excuses!! Lets achieve those weight-loss goals!!

Just for information, Judy, I have had Comcast broadband since last July and I have had, I believe, only one outage of service in almost a year. So I don't think it's just that Comcast is bad all around...perhaps something with your connection or your area. Hopefully the technician will be able to give you some answers. I do know that, when I first joined Comcast, I had constant outages but it turned out to be due to my own modem. I moved the modem and cables around a bit and it stopped (I think the cables weren't being able to lay straight or something).

Judy, Sometimes when the weather goes from cold or really cool out to much warmer or even hot, static builds up in the cable line and shuts it down. It sometimes helps to unplug everything from the wall and disconnect the cable line for about 5 minutes and then reconnect it. Then you would restart the computer and all of the little lights on the cable box should go on. Next time give that a try.
