That is about it... Smiler

Was back in my "old" range today. Not feeling much motivation to lose 2.5 more lbs and get to the bottom of range... but was nice to be "in range". Smiler

No.

I lost 5.5 lbs in 4 weeks. I think I'm fine. Smiler

I had two weeks where I EXPECTED to lose... and gained. And I'm still not clear WHY...

But the past 4 weeks have been pretty much textbook losing.

My plan is to keep counting thru the rest of the year...

Generally, I would go into losing mode and lose 2-3 pounds and then just coast along on mostly good habits and a minimum of bad habits. However, I think that I need a counting "tune up".

Also, this past December was the FIRST in 6 years where I felt, "What the heck if I gain a couple of pounds... I know how to do this... I'll just lose it in January..." However, come May, I still hadn't lost those 2-3 lbs and I had added a 3-4 more. (Well, actually I DID lose all of my holiday gain in Feb… but I was back in range for about 4 minutes, I think. Sort of like today… wooo hooo back in range… TODAY.)

RIGHT now, I'm feeling the old motivation to maintain thru vacations and the winter holidays. Smiler

And right now, I’m feeling the need to count. At the risk of sounding like Oprah… when I thought I had it down… I think that my good and bad habit ratio slipped just a little bit for me to gain 1 pound a month or so. I’m glad I caught it at like 6-10 pounds.

Somebody on the WW’ers boards posted a website where you could figure your BMR based on your muscle mass. I did that and it gave me a BMR of 1266... So that is what I use as the Fitday “custom” BMR.
http://www.healthrecipes.com/calories.htm

I added in some calories this week and had an average deficit of -88 calories a day (to the best of my ability to count) and lost about .5 lbs (to the best of my $23 scale's margin of error).

So I’m GUESSING, if I eat that those 88 calories a day… and maybe bump my BMR up to 1366... Then Fitday will work “perfectly” for me putting in my hours of sleep, and exercise, and TV time, and trombone playing and cleaning and weeding.

Of course, I’m going out of town next week… so that will throw a wrench into my little one woman science experiment… Smiler

But according to Fitday:

According to the Harris-Benedict estimate, my Baseline Metabolism is 1,245 calories per day.
I’ve read that this formula is 100 years old, and no longer accurate for today’s sedentary American with less muscle mass.

According to the Mifflin estimate, my Baseline Metabolism is 1,134 calories per day.
I’ve heard that this is the best formula for most Americans to use.

And if I’m guessing that my BMR is 1366 (that is my guess today…), I might feel kind of dumb going to the dr. and wasting an appointment to whine about my metabolism. I’m guessing that maybe I get an additional 100 calories then the “average” 51 year old female, my weight and height (since the formulas are all based on statistical averages) for lean tissue. And maybe another 100 from coffee.

Of course… this is all based on my best guess… which is the best I’ve got. Although… I DO think that it would be cool to have my RMR checked by the RD… but not feeling the motivation to pay $75 for the appointment… and I don’t think that insurance should cover it, just because I think that it would be “fun” to know.

But who knows... might be "fun" like my high tech body fat test where I'm hiding pounds and pounds of fat that the machine found. Smiler Think I'll stick with the Fitday.com. I'm liking those numbers. Smiler

So that is what is going on… right now… Smiler

Congrats Denise!

Are you still planning on going to the dr?
