I work in Oakland, where everyone is pretty ticked off at Randy Moss. My DH was born in Boston and thrives on New England-New York rivalries. So I'm curious how the rest of the country (or at least my CT friends) is feeling. And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, you'll probably check #5.
This Steeler fan was ROTFLMAO at Big Ben singing the Pina Colada Song! I don't even remember what the ad was for, just that it was funny.
And did you notice a distinct nostalgia theme running through the ads? Lots of 70s and 80s music and movie references -- guess the Super Bowl audience demographic is getting older.
One nice thing about not knowing either team... nor caring at all who wins... you can root for who ever is winning... and switch sides and be happy no matter who wins or loses.
dh started out (sort of) hoping the Patriots might win... but when the Giants did the plays leading up to the touch down in the last qtr... he said, "That was awesome and they really deserve to win".

My favorite commercial... the FED EX with the GIANT carrier pidgons.
The guy lighting the candles by breathing fire and then sneezing was next favorite.

Denise, I relate to the not knowing. Jason and I are sitting here not knowing any players, LOL!! He picked the Pats, so of course, in the spirit of competition, I picked the Giants so there is some healthy "arguing" going on
I have NO clue who played last year, or the year before but we are having fun with the game this year! Also, we ordered wings, thinking me, Jason, and Morgan would be here but Morgan went to a friends, so it is just the two of us, and I have eaten no wings!!! Yeah for me! Woohooo!!

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.
You know that it is bad when your ds says to your ds, "Oh look! the Giants ARE playing!"
When asked, "Who are you rooting for?" DH responded, "Ummmm... I can't remember. I'm rooting for the team with that quarterback. What's his name? The famous quarterback guy. I hope his team wins."
And when I asked, "Didn't the Patriots play last year?" None of us could remember.
However, we enjoyed our "Nachos Sandwich" VERY much... and I've also REALLY enjoyed 1.5 oz of chips and 3/4 TBS of dip... and going to open a non-alc beer now.
Oh... and I DO recognize Terry Bradshaw and Howie What's His Name who used to do the commercials with Terry Hatcher after Superman but before Desparate Housewives.
Now I feel old.

When does the pre game stuff start? About 2 pm Pacific Time?
I've tried googling it... and the Fox site... and one would think that I could figure it out.
Since it is the only game we watch... we MUST watch the pregame stuff... so that we know who everybody is... and to get caught up from last August (or when ever the season started).

I had a game plan in mind for the big game, food included. My brother in law's birthday party is scheduled at 4pm, so there goes that. Foodwise, I'm not sure if I'm gonna be in a better or worse position...
I know that there will be spaghetti, salad, bread, and I made a Junior's chocolate fudge cake with chocolate peanut butter frosting. While I'm not a big chocolate eater, I think the cake is gonna be a problem. And portion control, since I'm gonna be eating after everyone else (I'm working until 5).
I had a healthier, more game friendly menu in mind.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
We are hosting a party and I have a mix of healthier/lightened up stuff and totally unhealthy stuff. All finger foods:
mini chicken hotdogs (ginger terrayaki flavor) with a really good stonewall kitchen's flavored mustard
veggies platter with multiple dips - ranch dressing (full fat), bacon horseradish made with lf sour cream and soynaise, and hummus
cheese tray and crackers
party mix - nuts and assorted dried fruits
tortilla chips and salsa (full fat variety chips)
popcorn, pretzles, and low fat potato chips
thin crust pizza (assorted toppings)
super bowl thumb print cookies and a giant chocolate chip cookie decorated in a superbowl "theme" (nothing healthy about either of those).
I plan to steer towards the veggie platter and popcorn and just have one slice of pizza and a couple mini chicken hot dogs. The cookies are good though and I'll be leaving room for one for sure.
Guest are bringing something to share but not sure what that will add to the mix until they arrive.
I'll probably be too nervous for the giants to be worrying about eating ; )
Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
We always have a 3 person Super Bowl party. It is the only game we watch all year. I usually make bean nachos for lunch/dinner. And HONESTLY, it is just a big, old excuse to eat chips and dip... since we only do that one or two days a year. I don't even buy lowfat chips or dip anymore... because we don't eat THAT much dip. I think that I ate less than 1 or 2 TBS of dip last year. I ate my allotted amount of chips... and switched over to popcorn.
But we REALLY enjoy spending the afternoon together, vegging in front of the TV... eating chips.
The first year we wanted to watch the Super Bowl... we couldn't find it. I hadn't realized that FOX had become a major TV network. Channel 2 used to be a low budget independent channel with “I Love Lucy” re-runs. It NEVER occurred to me that the Super Bowl would be on channel 2. So we rented “Foot Ball Bloopers” and Jamie and the kid next door ate “Lunchables” and watched that. I think Jamie was about 6. But for the past 10 years or so… we have our traditional one day of football and snacks.
