We would like to announce that a missing season report has been filed for Fall. Fall was last seen a few days ago after a year's absence but seemed to leave as quickly as he arrived. We do have evidence that Fall was here because some of the leaves of trees have been painted various shades of red, gold and orange. However, Fall did not complete his project and this has led many to suspect foul play.
Summer seems to be the last season to have seen Fall. Summer reported to us that someone referring to himself as "Indian Summer" had been seen hanging around various locations trying to impersonate Fall. We have reason to believe that Indian Summer was using a false identity.
We will neither confirm nor deny that there are suspects in this case. However we will acknowledge that Winter has been designated as a season of interest.
If you have any information about the disappearance of Fall, please contact the Cooking Thin Detective Agency (CTDA) at 1-800-BR-549. This is a toll free number. All calls will be kept in strict confidence.
REMEMBER - We don't want your name, only your information.

Case Closed!! Sheltieguy's weatherman has abducted Fall and is holding him hostage!! We are waiting for the ransome demand to be announced!! News at 10:00.
500+ pumpkins arrived at my school yesterday on dh's pumpkin express. 430+ students got to take their very own pumpkin home. Their smiles and excitement make it all worth it for dh and I.
Pumpkins, huge leaves on the trail, hot apple cider, crisp apples, potatoes being harvested, no more flip flops, sweaters coming out, the World Series on, soup for dinner, and candy corn reminds me that I DO like fall, but I sure miss summer too!

Goal: Exercise at least 3 times per week.

It was from a Ball Blue Book. I will look tomorrow (heading to church in a few minutes) and see if I can find it and post it for you. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! I used the same basic recipe for pickling peppers and green beans just adjusted my processing time.
Blessings,
Lori

I still had so many flowers in bloom, not to mention a pepper plant with little peppers and blooms, a grape tomato vine that is PACKED with little green tomatoes and some lettuce.
This time last year was HOT around here. This has been one strange year weather wise!
Kaye,
In the past I have picked my green tomatoes at the first hint of frost and layer them in cardboard boxes with newspaper. They will ripen. This apparently is how grocery stores/packing houses ripen their tomatoes. No, they aren't as good as vine ripened, but not too different than grocery store tomatoes. You can also pickle those green tomatoes. I did that one year. It was frost season and I had two bushes that were LOADED with green cherry tomatoes, so I picked them all and pickled them. That is what everyone got for Christmas that year....pickled green tomatoes and orange marmalade! Everyone loved them, and asked for them the next year, but I didn't "HAVE" to make them the next year
Blessings,
Lori

CASE UPDATE: Indian Summer is currently being held for questioning. It has been determined that Indian Summer is actually a split personality of Summer and we are assisting in seeking proper psychological treatment for this season.
Also sought for questioning are Frosty (aka. "The Snowman") and Jack Frost, who was seen just this morning nipping at someone’s toes. If you have any information on these two please don't hesitate to contact us at the number above.
We can also report that Fall must have left this area for his own safety. We are pleased to report that he HAS been seen in other areas of the country. However, according to our own CTDA agent, Mountaingirl, he currently is in the process of legally changing his name for safety reasons. He will be known from here on out as the Season formally known as Fall........
We would like to announce that a missing season report has been filed for Fall.
Not to mention summer! Heck, I'm filing a missing persons report for Summer altogether. Who kidnapped June, July, and August?!?
Laura, your summer was here in central CA. We had 5 1/2 weeks straight of 100+ degree heat. Most of those days were over 107. So, we DEFINITELY had a summer here! (In a 40 day stint in July and August there were only 3 days that were below 100 degrees according to our local paper)
Blessings,
Lori

Yes, this is the first year in memory that we have actually had a semblance of fall. We've been 10=20 degrees cooler during the day for the past 4-5 weeks than what we normally are. Normally this time of year we are still in the 80s and 90s EVERY day, this year we've had more 70s days than 90s days (today unfortunately is one of those high 80s-low 90s days). Our weather has been all over the place the past two weeks.....40s and 50s in the mornings and 80s and 90s in the afternoons and then a day or two in the 70s. I don't think our weather has made up it's mind on what it wants to do. And then the other night for about 2 hours we had a vicious thunder and lightening "storm" but not one drop of rain! SOOOOO weird!
It's almost feeling like earthquake weather, but so far no earthquakes either.
Blessings,
Lori

I heard the word "snow" on our weather forecast last night but tuned it out...I'm hoping it was referring to the mountainous regions to our west, which frequently get snow way before we do. (sigh)
I miss fall!

The weather report on the noon news said there was snow in the north Georgia mountains yesterday. They also said this cold weather is a month early here. The average low temperature for October is 49, NOT 35!
