They are building one around the corner from us. Well, actually it is around several corners but it is just outside our subdivision. It is in a new little strip mall and we will be able to get to it without getting out on any major road.
I have never been in one so I don't know anything about them.

We have Aldi's here in Wisconsin now. At first I wouldn't go - .... but now I get my chicken broth, canned fruits, oatmeal and frozen asparagus, shrimp and frozen fruits there. Now I make an Aldi's list ~ some things are comparible to Walmart so I will get those things at Walmart. I make a food cost list ~ so generally know where to find what I need - the cheapest.
For basic veggies and fruits, I think Aldi's is cheaper than any of the grocery stores around me. That's what I usually get there. They won't have Romaine, but if I want mushrooms, bell peppers, or cukes - they're the place to go.
They have a lot of things like cereal, rice, canned products but also offer produce, dairy, and meat products. They have frozen foods as well. I wouldn't be able to plan my whole grocery list and shop at Aldi. You can get some really good prices but they are limited on brands and also on product variety. I've gotten some canned items pretty cheap and I actually bought some chicken breasts that were really good and inexpensive. I remember them having a lot of spices too. I don't ever specifically plan to go to Aldi. If I happen to be near there and know I just need a couple quick things it is usually less than our big grocery store. It might be worth a trip over there once it is built, Judy, to see if you like it.

Summer Challenge Goals: 1) Walk 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week 2) Plan weekly menus
They are a Germany Company. Actually, I went for the first time last week...I was very disappointed, especially after seeing the ads for years in the mail. All the product they carry is there own label. I was not impressed. I found the prices of some of there items, comp to walmart.

Yes, Aldi is the parent company of TJ's. Unfortunately this new one is not within walking distance. Now if I could walk straight there thru other peoples yards it would probably be less than a quarter of a mile.

We have an Aldi. I have been in it many times, but recently I have not gone as it is a bit out of my way and I find that the prices at our megamart are almost as good.
But, if it was in walking distance, I would likely go in for stuff like this:
oats sugars conventional dairy- milk, cheese some fruits and veggies- they have looked and tasted pretty good in the past.
*They seem to have lots of processed food- canned soup, crackers, frozen stuff. I have not tried it.
