Tuesday I walked 2 miles at the Y.

Wednesday I took mother to a really big outlet mall in north Georgia and we did a lot of walking. After we got home, we went grocery shopping and did more walking.

That evening we went to the Y and walked 1 mile.

Thursday (today) I walked 3 miles at the Y. And I gave back the pedometer I bought from the Y and got my money back. I had traded it out 3 different times and it was never accurate (in spite of their claims that was). Today, after I walked 2 miles, it only gave me credit for 1.1 miles. Yesterday, after walking all morning at the mall and then at the grocery store doing 1 mile at the Y, it registered 816 steps for the whole day.

I think I will try the one Sheltieguy recommended.

Judy,
I found when I wore a pedometer regularly there were lots of things that would cause it to read inaccurately. It really does need to stay vertical so it can work properly. I found if I could wear a belt and attach it to that it was much, much more accurate. If you find that it is tipped over a lot, you can try wearing it on the inside of your waistband(between your body and your clothing) or depending on how well they fit, on your underwear waistband. I had luck sometimes with those 2 strategies.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

YAMAX (Japan) is said to make the most accurate mechanical pedometers. I got mine under the New-Lifestyles Digi-Walker brand name.

It sounds like the Accusplit AE100XL series is also based on YAMAX.

I walked 2 miles at the Y this morning and I have just gotten back from 1 hour of ballroom dancing.

I wish I could find a reliable, accurate pedometer but I don't think they exist.

I am SO excited!! I deflated my exercise ball and packed it up and put it away. The reason: my Shitzu little dog baby "ate" my Gunnar Peterson workout DVD a few months ago. Well, he didn't actually eat it, but chewed the crap out of it; rendering it useless. So, today, I was searching my house for my Firm stepper. No where to be found. Oh, that's right, I gave that to my sister. SO, I went in my DVD/VHS drawer to find a workout DVD. I thought that the only exercise ball/Gunnar Peterson workout DVD was the one Simon chewed up! I had another, but thought it was the "instructional" DVD; you know, the ones that are SO slow, that show exactly how to move, but are not really a workout!? Well, I found a 45 min. DVD! Hello-the other one that the dog chewed was only 20 min! This is twice as long, twice as hard! I am SO excited because I LOVE the ball workout. It incorporates weights, cardio, abs, everything pretty much. Woooooohoooooo!
