So we finally made it to the first summer holiday. I personally have quite a few healthy challenges to plan on and around and thought maybe a few of you would like a place to think through the weekend too. Chime on in!

i definitely had more sugar than usual on saturday. i did not sleep well saturday (surprise! sugar high!) so i slept in sunday and di d not go for my jog. i slept almost 10 hours sunday night, i was exhausted. I did enjoy a really nice monday--we went canoeing at the lake, and we watched Role Models which was a scream.

I did get in a really long run monday morning, and i ate 100% clean on monday.

Tuesday has been a really clean day also.

i am back to my work week routine, which includes packed meals and exercise.

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.
3. One word 2010: faith

Being sick and not home cost me some salt weight, but I've been more concerned with finding stuff that I could eat and not be really sorry later. So lots of processed stuff, like spaghettios and chef boyardee (I have no idea why that stuff sounded so good at the time). Salt pushed me way up, but should be back down in the next day or so now that I'm at home.

My weight is up three lbs over last weeks weigh in amount.

I did not "over eat" and stuff myself, I only had one serving at any meal (even the bbq) but it was not food I usually have nor was it prepared in a way I would have prepared it so I know the weight is just temporary and I am not worried about it.

Went to a cookout at my friends' house on Sunday for David's birthday. Kind of frustrating because Mike was doing the cooking...and he has been having VERY bad spikes in his blood pressure lately...dangerously high...and yet he makes the burgers with onion soup mix, which is like pure salt, and then had super salty hot dogs. Sigh.

My weight was up almost 2 pounds in fluid from that meal.

I'm back : )
Had a great time in Boston! Ran in the ams with my bil, walked a bunch (especially on Saturday) and enjoyed every morsel of food (lots and lots of seafood ; ).

Back to reality today and a sensible food plan.

Weekends always seem to be a challenge for me so having a 3-day weekend will be a bit difficult. Tonight we are going to a birthday cook-out and Monday we have a pool party to go to (hoping it's warm and sunny Cool). I have workout clothes on to wear to work so I can go right to the gym after work (hoping to leave by 1PM). I want to get to the gym every day this weekend to at try and help balance or limit food damage.

We'll be with my sil and her family so I won't have any control over what's being served. I'm planning to make healthy choices when I can, limiting alcohol and running every day. We then come back and have a cookout at a neighbors. It's going to be challenging for sure.

I will have more challenges this year than I usually do.
We are going to an Indian Festival and Pow Wow on Saturday (nothing new there-been goin to it for at least 20 years or more) however on Sunday we are going to a bbq gathering of Alton Brown fans (otherwise known as "briners") from all over the country (& maybe even some "furriners" Wink). At least, I think a couple are from out of the country.
Also on Saturday, Norcross is having a Strawberry Festival on main street and every shop on the street will have free food (snacks).
We may or may not go back to the Pow Wow on Monday. Not sure about that. Since we now have a garden to tend to we may go work in the garden on Monday.
AND we have a Team Lean weigh in on Tuesday Eeker (it's usually on Monday)

Even so, I am not going to worry about it all weekend. I intend to enjoy every minute of it Big Grin

I have a lot of eating out on the agenda this weekend. Let's see:

Friday: Going to a late afternoon funeral (no one close thankfully) with another friend. I'd like to try and make dinner vs. going out but not sure how that'll sort out.

Saturday: Planning on an early morning bike ride but not sure if the weather will cooperate. Will find a different exercise option if it's too crummy to ride. Have brunch and dinner out plans. Yikes. The dinner out is at a wonderful tapas bar so that will be where I'll try to splurge and try to keep the other at a dull roar.

Sunday: Going to church (trying to restore that habit too), then a job search seminar at a Panera. It's sort of expected you buy something for the privilege of using the facility. Will try to stick to just a bagel and maybe keep it plain. Might have to look at the menu online ahead of time. Then meeting a friend for lunch and a walk. Will try to choose healthy and may cancel this since she's the one I'll be with Friday afternoon now. Then a graduation party. Should be able to avoid eating much there though. Will plan something fairly healthy and light for dinner.

Monday: No plans yet. Might take a 10k volkswalk that I scoped out. Might invite my dad over to grill something but can definitely control what's going on in those meals easily.

Yikes. Lots of good, better, best choice oppty's for me. This socializing around food thing is really hard for me. It's sort of ingrained in my lifestyle. I remember missing it when I was trying to lose weight and sometimes it's hard to convince others not to do things that way.
