Those of us who attended the AIM FLYChat last night discussed the possibility of trying to make this a regular weekly occurrence. We're going to shoot for Monday evenings at 7 p.m. EST, which would, I believe, be 5 p.m. for you Mountain Zoners and 4 p.m. for you Left Coasters. As was the case last night, several people caught up with us an hour or two into the chat and still got to participate, so don't feel like you MUST be there at the starting time in order to participate.

Just to re-cap, here are the basics of how this works:

1. You must have AIM, AOL's Instant Messenger, on your computer. You DO NOT have to be an AOL member to use AIM--anyone can. Most new computers come with AIM, so you can start by looking on your hard drive. If you can't find it, go to www.aol.com or www.aim.com and download it (free).

2. Once you've downloaded AIM and registered your screenname, post it on this thread. We will put you on our buddy list and be on the lookout for you.

3. On the night/time of the FLYChat, log onto AIM. If you've given us your screenname ahead of time, one of us will see you and invite you into the chatroom. If no one invites you right away, be patient.

4. Once you receive the invite, just click to join us and you'll find yourself in a chatroom. On the right side is a list of who is in the room with you. You just type what you want to say and hit enter and it shows it to all of us. Then we talk back. It's live and real-time.

5. Our FlyChat schedule is to chat for 10 minutes (about whatever), then FLY for 20 minutes. It is up to you to decide how to spend your 20 minutes...it doesn't have to be cleaning. Some people use it for art project time. Last night, I used one of my 20-minute FLYs to pay my bills. Whatever needs to get done is what you use the time for!

Right before we FLY, we usually talk briefly about what we plan to accomplish during the 20-minute FLY. Right when we return from the 20-minute FLY, we talk about what we did accomplish. The 10-minute chat/20-minute FLY cycles continue as long as people want to hang in...it will be at least an hour and often several hours.

As a result of this on/off form of chatting, if you log on sometime other than the chat's start time, and you don't get invited into the chat right away, it's probably because we're all away from the PC cleaning or doing other projects! Just wait a max of 20 minutes and we'll all be back at the PC and will invite you. You can always IM one of us too.

Sorry but I will likely be absent for tonight's FLYchat. I had a lot of errands today and got a very late start on my lunches. I will need the rest of the evening to get finished cooking and prepping fruits and veggies.

Also, I'll be on vacation next Monday, Columbus Day, so I will be out of town.

Having dd move back in is playing hob with my schedule. There is either something we need to go do or she has a ton of homework that she needs the computer to do.

Sorry I forgot about the chat. I was late fixing lunches and had fruit to prep, etc. Plus last night was the season premiere of Prison Break so I was motivated to get everything done by 8 p.m. so I could sit down and enjoy it in peace. Smiler

Attendance at the Monday night FLYchats has been very sparse over the summer, understandably...hoping that, as we go into the fall, we'll have more people joining us.

Dd came home tonight to work on homework. Her final project for this class and we had to go out and scrounge for a missing part she needed.

hehehe, I do that when dd is here on a Thursday or Friday. I keep trying to make it Saturday and then I am messed up as to what day it is all weekend. Big Grin

Oh my goodness!!! I had to work yesterday which is usually my off day and I COMPLETELY forgot about the FLYchat because it felt like Tuesday all day yesterday! Sorry about that.
