HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Best Wishes to all.

We stayed up and took down our tree while watching the festivities on TV.
At midnight we toasted the New Year with Sparkling Apple Cider.
Dena is participating in a 5k in Kennasaw this morning (her first Smiler).
This evening we are having pork chops, turnip greens and black eyed peas for dinner.
They say that whatever you do on New Year's Day is what you will do all year so we plan to eat healthy, exercise and watch our spending.
I have much more trouble with mindless spending than I do mindless eating and did way too much of it last year.

Happy New Year! This time of year is bittersweet for me. I am in a way ready for life (and my house) to be back on a schedule but I always feel a bit sad and miss the fun and excitement of the holiday season.

Yesterday we did the traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner at my grandmothers. We have done this forever and legend has it that if you eat a strand of sauerkraut on New Year's Day you will have good luck all year long. We make the kids mix one strand of kraut into their mashed potatoes every year since they all hate sauerkraut. My nanny is 90 years old yet she still peels and cooks 15-20 lbs of mashed potatoes, makes a pork roast, sauerkraut, and 5 loaves of homemade bread every year and has about 20 people! She is amazing!!

I went to the gym this afternoon. Turns out if I rest the dumbells/barbells in the "nook" between my thumb and forefinger and use my middle/ring/ and pinky fingers I can do a weight workout despite a broken finger! (I broke my left forefinger). I did chest and tris and then about 25 minutes on the elliptical. It feels SOOOO good to get to the gym.

Happy New Year and Best wishes to all for a prosperous and healthy 2010!!

Jill

Sending my best regard to everyone. Happy New Year.

I had a fun night last night, and was home around 11.30.

Today I made it to an 8.30 step challenge class. The music was great and the crowd was pumped so that the class went fast and I worked harder than usual.
Food today is back on track. We're at home getting the house cleaned and settling in after a long holiday list of activities.

We're spending the afternoon with friends watching football - not too bad if that's indicative of the year ahead minus the party food ; )

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
