There are certain foods that bring my back to feeling like a kid.

Lately for that little something sweet after dinner I have been grabbing a TJs choc. milk box. I will tell you it really does the trick.

I not only love it because of the taste, but that it gives me that extra hit of calcium.

Does anyone else have any fav. new foods out there that remind them of the good ol' days. Smiler

Oh Lord, how could I forget bologna?

One of my greatest pleasures as a teenager was making fried bologna sammiches with Miracle Whip. NUMMYlicious.

And my family was BIG on the Trail bologna. New Year's Eve fare was Trail Bologna, cheese and Ritz crackers. And still, all these years later, my mother put out Trail bologna and cheese the day I got home for reunion two weeks ago. While I was there, the whole family took a trip out to Amish country and, sure enough, there is a town called Trail, Ohio--and that's where Trail Bologna comes from. Who knew? Smiler

Oh my gosh-there are SO many things-probably why I am now overweight, LOL!

Friday nights were homemade pizza

Lebanon bologna and cheese w/mustard sandwiches

Cocoa Puffs and Lucky Charms

Fried tomatoes

My dad's homemade potato filling(which we still all MUST have at Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter-there was a Christmas when my sister decided to ask dad not to make it and we had some other kind of potato-the horror!! How could she ruin Christmas like that, LOL Big Grin )

Home-made ice cream(strawberry was my fav)

Pork and sauerkraut w/mashed potatoes

Pot-pie with homemade dough noodles

Good Lord, I am looking at this list- a number of these things are Pennsylvania Dutch-SOO unhealthy but delicious all the same!!

I used to love Squirt too, but it reminds me of college and scuba diving lessons. We would always get McDonald's and go to the convenience store for Squirt after our Scuba classes.

Most food that would remind me of childhood is stuff I avoid now...balogna sandwiches and Ding Dongs.

Squirt (a sort of grapefruit-flavored soda pop)

Oh my gosh, I adore squirt!

My grandpa's meatballs, grape soda with pizza,
German garlic sausage, and caramel popcorn are some of my biggest "kid" memory foods.

BLT's are the best with homegrown tomatoes. Sometimes I love to eat them without the "B"...on toast..yummy.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have consumed my summer.....WOW warm on a bench in the park!

Ice cold oranges from the freezer with a peppermint stick for a straw...the best!

It's never too late to get it right.

My mom's black eyed pea and carrot salad; tiny shaped pasta with butter and cheese; cucumbers and radishes with salt; peaches.

I'll add riding my bike with the wind in my hair as a favorite kid like feeling too.

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

Love chocolate milk, though I go for soy so I don't get that lactose-induced bloating. Ick.

Foods that make me feel like a kid: ice cream of any sort, tomatoes right out of the garden with salt, peas shelled right from the pod into my mouth, peanut butter sandwiches, Granny Smith apples (the neighbors had a tree), pasta with butter and Romano cheese, my grandmother's pizza recipe, mashed potatoes, chewing on a grass stem, iceberg lettuce eaten with my fingers.
