Wish I could explain it better. You might try a beginners knitting book (or video) from the library. | | | | Posts: 4529 | Location: NE Atlanta (Chamblee, Doraville, Norcross, Duluth) | Registered: March 15, 2004 |

| Lynne and other knitters, well, I'm not a knitter (yet!) A friend taught me the knit stitch last year, but then she up and moved away on me and never taught me anymore. Knitting wasn't my favorite, as it moves much slower than crocheting, but my daughter loves knitting (but she also only learned the knit stitch, but she is faster at it than I am .....my problem is that I am constantly dropping stitches!). I am working on 3 different crochet projects right now, as well as a cross stitching project. I need to finish the cross stitch today so taht I can deliver it to my dmil (it is a lace edged bookmark with a beautiful rose on it). My crochet projects are: a black Lion brand suede yarn mixed with black and multi-colored fancy fur yarn scarf for my dd (it was supposed to be for her to go to winter camp but she is already home, and I didn't finish it, so I will give it to her for her 13th birthday in a couple of weeks). I am also working on an ivory funfur scarf for my mil. As well as a shawl using this yarn in the tudor color. It will be finished just in time to pack it away for next winter I also need to repair the ponchos that I made for my girls for Christmas last year....the fun fur keeps coming unattached from the other yarn that I used. It is so frustrating, and short of taking all of the fun fur off altogether, I don't know how to fix it! Oh, it has been so fun sharing what I'm doing with you all Oh! I am also working on some quilt blocks for a quilt block swap with some friends.
Blessings,
Lori

Well, Francie, then you must be a Yarn Harlot follower, like myself. I discovered her before I ever saw her books, and now I'm reading (the passion I all but gave up for running and knitting)one of her books and it keeps me in stitches. Ok, bad pun, but I was doomed... For those of you who would like to know what we are talking about, there is a Canadian knitter who has achieved utter guru status with her blog, which blossomed in to books. Yarn Harlot is what it's called I think. Very funny. I love the way she photographs her projects next to other things - it's just the way yarn people look at life. You mark events by what you were knitting at the time. I just days ago fell in love with a nubby hand dyed cotton that I am now searching for a pattern to use with it. It is the opposite way one is supposed to do things, but, when was I ever ordinary? Lynne
| I just got the most beautiful scarf from my neice. I am so impressed with her work! That I had to get out the needles again, went and got some bigger ones and I am working on pillows. Sweet and short...I love to knit, I only wish I was better at it.
It's never too late to get it right.

| I am about a half a sleeve away from finishing a merino wool cardigan in a nice olive green. I have never worked with merino before. It is really nice.
I also have a pair of socks underway. I just have to join the toe and do sock number two. I am a sock addict. Last year I think I made at least 5 or 6 pairs. At this point I think I have at least 12 pairs of hand knit socks. They are just so much fun, especially with the self striping yarn.
I think I have a few scarves underway, but I am not too worried about those.
I am also, foolishly, considering joining with the knitting olympics people. My project would be the cute penguin on the knitty.com site. I also have several baby presents to make. Oh the insanity... --francie
| I only knit scarves. Actually I don't like the knit stitch so I just do the purl stitch row after row. . I generally use a #10 or a #7 needle. #10 gives a softer, fluffier feel to the scarf. I also make felted purses; what I do is really called "fulling" not "felting" but it just sounds to weird to say "I fulled a purse." I do the same thing I would do for a scarf only make it wider and when I have it twice as long as I want the purse to be I fold it in half, stitch up the two sides, felt it and add handles. Sometimes I add needle felted decorations to the outside. | | | | Posts: 4529 | Location: NE Atlanta (Chamblee, Doraville, Norcross, Duluth) | Registered: March 15, 2004 |
