I want to thank everyone for the welcome...I am new to all this, in fact not sure of how this works etc.
I felt such support...I have been struggling forever with weight all my life. I've tried every diet, even had intestial bypass surgery years ago only to have it reversed and have the gastric bypass which didn't work. The intestial bypass did, I lost over 100 pounds, but after having it reversed and the gastric bypass...didn't lose, but started gaining... But I did have about a year of feeling almost normal. Now today here I am with it all back plus....It just seems so hopeless. My big problem is I have an all or nothing thinking...everything needs to be perfect....which I'm not. I'm just tired off going down every avenue looking for what might be the answer....The good news is I haven't given up and even though it's not perfect I have been writing in Kathleen's 52 week planning book.
Yes, Kathleen I did meet you when you were at the Applefest in the Finger Lakes, Geneva...You are so inspiring, friendly...I only wish I had more time to chat with you!! I'm sure you've heard that before....I like your reward system...
Thank you everyone for your heartfelt support...I hope I'm doing this correct and figure more of it out...All I know is I was so surprised and happy to see messages...
Have a great day...CFC

By golly, I think we are sisters. I had an all or nothing form of thinking, if I didn't do the "diet" thing perfectly, it was over, forget it. I was the one person in the world meant to be fat. I have 75+ pounds to loose. I have lost over 40 thus far. Most of it is because of this site, when I loose sight of my ultimate goal that of a healthy life...these people bring me back and help me realize that we are all imperfect in our desires to be perfect.

Let me give you one start, you've probably already heard...pick one thing in your life to change today or tomorrow...it's 6:00 p.m. here in South Dakota. Just one small thing, baby steps so to speak. Maybe it's eating breakfast...walking around the block....drinking three glasses of water...whatever floats your boat and then do it. Do it again on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's in doing the little things that great things happen.

We are so glad you are here! AND you've had a chance to meet and talk to KD...do you know how jealous I truly am? WOW!

There really isn't a wrong way to do it around here...you just post what you feel and what support you need and you're doing fine!

This board is not only an incredible support system but a great information source. Please feel free to ask any questions you have about eating or cooking or meal planning or exercise. Someone here will have an answer, or can point you to a website or book that will help answer the question.

Best of luck!
Sheri

I know that a LOT of us can identify with that.

Making baby step changes and little do-able week long goals and challenges REALLY help with the "All or Nothing" thing. Make a goal to do something for 5 days or a week... or even a weekend... or a change at lunch. Smiler And evenutally all of the little changes add up and become good habits. (Although, giving up my fast food habit was HARD somedays. And somedays I was "white knuckling" it past the drive thru, but it did get easier!)

Oh, and HI and welcome!!!!

It sounds like you have been through a lot!
Good for you for hanging in there and not giving up. KD's books are fantastic and they really do work.

Small, gradual changes really do add up and make for long term success.

What types of goals/changes are you currently working towards right now?
