Thought I'd broach the subject of pretty little chocolate eggs wrapped in colorful foil...

What are you doing about the chocolate and the rest of the holiday food this year?
Moderating? Skipping it? Livin' it up?

***

I've not touched any of the chocolates. I am in the middle of reading about some huge dietary changes, so I am avoiding the chocolate this year. However, tomorrow's dinner will be leg of lamb, potatoes, asparagus, and lemon cheesecake. On my new "diet" I could have the asparagus. Period. It'll be a day when I do not follow the new guidelines...
Seems fine, though.
I did very well today with food today. Fitday says that I ate 15% of my calories from fat with only 2% from Sat fat.

Easter dinner at my friends' house was roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, the steamed green beans I brought, a cauliflower/broccoli veggie mix, and homemade wholegrain bread. Desserts were a blackberry-apple crumble and a beautiful bunny cake.

I had one reasonable serving of turkey, potatoes & gravy and green beans. I had passed by the bread, when another guest informed me she'd made it and asked me to try some, so I took the smallest piece (I love bread, but usually prefer to pass it by when served with a meal unless it is fresh-baked white crusty bread, which to me is worth the calories).

For dessert, I had a piece of bunny ear (grin), which was yellow cake with white icing and toasted coconut and a bit of the fruit crumble.

While there, I did very well. Unfortunately, I allowed myself to be encouraged to take some extra dessert home because there was so much left over. I haven't gotten into it yet, but the bunny ear was SOOOO good that I'm sure I will be having it today at some point.

Edited to add a picture of the bunny cake:

The easter bunny pretty much was nice to me, and I was good. The easter ham, however, was incredibly mean. I'm way up in range today, and I'm really hoping it's all salt. My calories were fine, exercise was good, and I didn't go hog wild (pun intended) like I could have. I even ran an extra 1.8 miles (and two more steep hills than I normally do last night during my run, which was deliberately planned for AFTER dinner) to compensate for the extra sweets.

The clincher is how my body reacts...will it give up the water & go back to normal poundage, or will it think I gained pounds and make me relose those two and a half pounds I'm up from Friday? I'm hoping for the later, since I am really, really hungry now and I just ate breakfast two and a half hours ago.

I ate at least 10 prettily wrapped chocolates yesterday. The rest of the food was great, though...
still...

Today I am putting away (in the freezer) most of dd's candy and I am on track.

My food plan is similar to Brie's--- very clean this week with simple meals and snacks.

I am still in range too, but pushing the upper end this AM.

I've not bought or eaten any Easter candy. I did have a week of too many sweets this past week, but none were candy or Easter-related.

I am going to my best friends' house today for Easter dinner. All I know is that they are making a turkey vs. the usual ham. I was asked to bring a veggie so I'm bringing fresh steamed green beans so that there will at least be one healthy thing on the table (that is usually my role in holiday dinners over there LOL).

I'm indulging, but in range so far. Dinner at my ILs was delish -- I could have totaled the lamb all by myself -- but luckily I didn't feel the urge to eat anything after we got home. I'm fairly sure I'll pay for this next week, but right now I'm not worried.

I'm not really worried. I've eaten maybe a dozen jelly beans total so far. I'm not much of a sweet eater, so after a few bites, I'm done. I haven't eaten any chocolate at all, and most likely won't. I have a caramel butter pecan egg well hidden out of eye level, and only intend to eat a bite or so at a time.

I have a 5 miler scheduled for tomorrow, so I will be really hesitant to undo that run.

I just finished making Easter baskets for my dd and my nieces and nephew. They do have chocolate candy in them, as well as licorice, sweet tarts, and nerds. We have some candy leftover, but not really anything that will be calling my name. Tomorrow we are going to my sisters for dinner. Ham, cheesy hash-brown potatoes, and I am bringing a salad with lots of fresh cut veggies in it and also an orange and red onion salad with a basil/mint vinaigrette dressing. I plan to enjoy Easter dinner, try not to overdo it, and not feel guilt over what I eat.

Happy Easter!
Jill

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

We're going to brunch with a group of friends. I'm practicing moderation but certainly will indulge some on Easter and feel good about it ; )

As of this morning, I'm still in range so I must be doing something right.
