The sky is the limit! Santa has green lighted anything you want. If you could have anything you wanted for your kitchen (remodeling excluded), what would it be?

check out www.homebistro.com for chef-made home delivered meals at reasonable prices. My pal just told me about it, and actually, if you figure in the cost of meals, the prices are quite reasonable. not something i could afford all the time but once a year as a treat, to get meals delivered for a week...why not? (They have low cal and low carb options, and check out the sampler platters.)
(My friend purchased a week's worth of meals for someone who was caring for a dying spouse. the caregiver typically cooked very yummy gourmet meals but since she was caring for her husband (now deceased) there was no way to keep up the cooking.) let me know if you guys know of any other sites for these types of meals. izzy

Goals:
1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire.
2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy.
3. One word 2008: courage
4. Eat slow and mindfully.

Dear Santa,
I would like a kitchen (along with a house!) Smiler
I can work on adding the various extra items after I have the kitchen! Smiler

I actually have the basics to get by while living at my moms. I do plan on purchasing a couple of new muffin pans (small, medium, and large). I am just not sure which kind I want to get. I see the new rubber type of pans but don't know how they work compared to the standby metal type.

The only other thing I would like is a high tech scale.

I had first asked for a shopper, a cook and a dishwasher/busperson. I am amending my list now, I'd love a good set of knives, a scale that measured ounces not pounds, more counter space, with storage space underneath. I'd love
a rack for wine and books, a small radio that hangs underneath the cupboards; and new flatware. Santa are you listening?

It's never too late to get it right.

a personal chef for one week to prepare healthy meals for me and the family. why one week? let's aim for one year, the sky is the limit, right?

absent the personal chef, one of those pricey espresso machines that makes a ton of noise and smells really good with the coffee is mixed with the foamy milk.

Hey!! You were peeking at my list!!! LOL!!!!

I want to get rid of my wallpaper and just paint a solid color (which I will get around to one of these days soon...hopefully very SOON). I would like a solid surface (granite maybe?) top on my island instead of tile. I'm OK with my tile backsplash and the tile on the other countertops.

OH, we're sharing a brain, I want my wallpaper gone and new flooring. Those were things we hated when we bougth the house, and we haven't gotten around to replacing them.

  • Good knives
  • A big wok-style pan for stir-fries
  • Cookware that is good and functional but not Teflon-coated
  • Silpat baking mats
  • Good baking sheets
  • A heavy-duty food processor
  • New, smaller dinner plates in a fun color
  • Some nice tablecloths and cloth napkins
  • La Cruset in cobalt blue
  • More cupboard space for all this stuff Smiler

I can ask Jesse to play the role of shirtless manservant, so Santa can skip that and just bring me a nice house-elf to do a little cleaning here and there.

I thought of a couple more things...

My mom used to have a very utilitarian cheese plate thing, that held a few good hunks of cheese and would live in the fridge.

A new dishwasher. Could be a shirtless manservant...

A small freezer that I'd be able to use without falling in, maybe an upright.

I would just love to be able to get things out of my cupboards without calling my husband or son. Most of the cabinets are low and deep and I can't bend.

How about a kitchen period..........no just kidding. The house is coming along and I may be out of this little apartment and into the kitchen in plenty of time for Christmas! I guess pretty plates and silverware will be the first thing I would want and then some cookware to cook it in. I want one of those SILPATs and a couple nice cookie pans...good thick ones that won't warp on you with the tempuerature changes. I figure much of the stuff at bed, bath and beyond is probably pretty good stuff isn't it?

My wishlist is pretty simple.....

*a new stainless steel cookie sheet (which is actually a jelly roll pan)
*one of those corn cob cast iron pans for making corn bread
*a box grater that doesn't fall apart in 6 months time
*a meat grinder and pasta making attachments for my Bosch

But what I really want for Christmas isn't any of these kitchen things..... Smiler

I really want some cute, trendy clothes that fit well.....oh well, i can dream Smiler

Blessings,

Lori

Wow, talk about timing! I am sitting here looking through the Kitchen Kapers catalog! I would like one of everything from the catalog please! A complete kitchen makeover, complete with the installation of a gas stove, a great big island in the middle(I would also need a bigger house to accommodate this project Big Grin), someone to come and give me private cooking lessons(I do pretty well on my own but I'd like professional classes to teach me the right way). If there is such a thing, I'd like a "big fat pig" alarm, you know, when I am on my third or fourth dough nut or something like that a big red light and sirens and a voice yelling "drop the dough nut lady" would come on-it would have to have a sensor in each room so I couldn't hide in the closet or in the attic shoving dough nuts in my face Big Grin
I've always wanted enough room in my kitchen to have either a large breakfast bar OR a nice sized table, or even an open area that extends to a dining/living area so while I"m cooking I can socialize w/family or friends.

But, I think what i would REALLY like is for a really hot guy(who of course is a great cook) to be standing in my kitchen, ready at a moments notice to whip up whatever I'm in the mood for(get your minds out of the gutter, I'm talking about food, LOL) Wink

A nice set of pans. And some baking pans, most of mine vanished in the move.

A baking table, with a marble top and a rack underneath, which I could use for kneading bread and such.

A potted herb garden.

Recycling bins, and a larger trash container.

Lastly, a manservant. Preferably the George Clooney type.

Big Grin A whole set of Calphalon pots and pans and a set of red Le Cruset!

A personal chef wouldn't hurt either. Also a maid and an assistant!
