Had some good family time with both my family and Nelson's.
I skied 5 days. Just one lift was running... so it was easy skiing and perfect for the beginning of the season. It was shockingly not crowded. I think that it is the economy. And it was 17 degrees and cloudy on Saturday. That helps. And the chain controls were on. That also helps. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping for nasty weather between Christmas and New Years, since many people won't ski in it but pretty blue skies will mean big crowds.
The scale is down a shocking 2 lbs. But I was very good over Thanksgiving and the days before and after. I was very happy with how I ate.
I thought that this was a good article on the "holiday pitfalls". Most people are freaked by a 1,500 calorie day on Thanksgiving and put very little thought into Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
monday was fine altho i am pretty sure the lady at starbucks gave me regular coffee when i asked for decaf because i was shaking by mid morning, and feeling nauseated. then i coul dnot sleep last night worth a darn. so i skipped the gym this morning. 2 mornings in a row without my workout is making me grumpy. but oh well...there are wrose things. i jsut had a brownie for breakfast because i wanted chocolate. i will keep the rest of my day light, with tofu sushi and tomato soup . i really want to feel my head on my pillow.
Goals: 1. Enjoy life! 2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention. 3. One word 2010: faith

We got a "Turkey Dinner in a Box" from the groc store. Everything was mostly done and we had to finish the stuffing and reheat every thing. It came with NI. If a person had the recommended (VERY moderate) size servings of everything in the box, it was just about exactly 1,000 calories.
The serving sizes were very reasonable:
4 oz of turkey 1 cup stuffing 1/2 cup mashed potatoes 1/4 cup gravy 1/2 cup sweet potatoes with orange glaze, dried cranberries and pecans 1/4 cup of cranberry sauce 1/2 cup of green beans with almonds 1/12th of a pumpkin pie
That added up to 1000 calories. I think I ate those amounts.
PLUS... I had another 1/4 cup of cranberry sauce with nuts in it, a roll, 1 TBS butter, about 6 nuts, about 4 pieces of dried fruit dipped in chocolate, 2 Triskets and about 10 tortilla chips, some artichoke dip, 2 squares of cheese, a couple of olives, a salad with vegs and 1/3 of an avocado, 2 TBS salad dressing, 1/3 cup of low fat vanilla ice cream, 1/24th of a peacan pie, 1/4 cup of whipped cream, half and half in my coffee.
This was from about 2pm until about 7pm. Adding up the calories to my best guess... 1000 150 75 100 100 125 130 150 125 30 125 75 90 175 100 90 TOTAL = 2640
I didn't have seconds on anything. I was never stuffed. I ate ZERO chips, dip, cheese and nuts on Wednesday and Friday, Sat, Sun.
It was a good day/weekend. I was happy. I wouldn't change anything.

I can't imagine being freaked out by a 1500 calorie day- ever- let alone in Thanksgiving.
I am back into a more normal pattern of eating. MY big struggle this week is that I am working more than usual and I tend to want to overeat when I work a lot. Today, I am at an 1800 calorie day. I purposely did not try to keep things super low (in terms of calories) so that I would not end up feeling deprived. Seems to be working. I feel pretty satisfied and am sticking to plan. Plus, now that I am eating less fat, 1800 calories means a pretty good volume of food. For lunch I ate about 450 calories of brown rice and vegetables-- it was a generous portion!
