I'm blushing as I write this, because I'm not usually one to toot my own horn. But I'm pretty sure my CT friends won't think any less of me for a little bragging.

Today I competed in an indoor rowing championship. This is a particular form of torture that rowers indulge in to prove how macho we are. You get on a rowing machine (aka an "erg") in a line of 10 or 20 other machines, set it for 2,000 meters. When they say Row! you go as fast and hard as you can to cover the 2k in as little time as possible. And, of course, do it faster than everyone else on the ergs at the same time.

For women in my age bracket, a time of 8:30 is respectable; anything under 8 minutes is really impressive. My time was (drumroll please) 8:10! It was a personal best and good enough to win my heat. I don't think I won the race, though. I'll have to wait until the official results are posted online to know for sure where I placed. Third is a possibility.

Anyway, for someone not accustomed to athletic achievement, I'm pretty proud of myself today. Thanks for letting me boast!

Congratulations! Modern rowing machines look like a good total-body workout.

(The old-type that I have is a knee-torture machine. It's no wonder that Precor quit making it.)

Wow, congratulations!

It might be a good homework assignment for us all to come up with something we're proud of. Maybe a brag thread. Smiler
