you are stronger than the stuffing coaster girl! and Kitty is stronger than the stuffing also! kudos to you, bad mama-jamba in your step class with the strong arms!

my exercise buddy made me pumpkin muffins this morning and i have had 2. but i also have been running around nonstop, like a cazy woman, getting things ready. my tummy feels happy,. not full, not empty. i am trying to keep the tress level down. husband is irritating me with usual habit of changing things at the 11th hour, which would be fine if he helped along the way. But he usually does not do anything, so it feels bad after i have been planning for a month, and then cooking for the last 72 hours, and he comes in (last minute louie!) and changes things. so i am breathing, and letting it go....AHHH! the important thing is that we are all healthy, safe and satisfied with our lives overall.. AHH! (another breath). 30 minutes until company arrives, breathing deeply,iz

Goals:
1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire.
2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy.
3. One word 2008: courage
4. Eat slow and mindfully.

Countdown to dinner...one hour. I made sure to eat a normal breakfast, hoping to not get too hungry before dinner. Then I finished off making the dessert that I am taking, lowfat pumpkin cake. After, I got in a really good step aerobics workout combined with my arms strength training. So far, so good.

What has me worried is Kitty, my internal toddler voice. She's gonna taste the stuffing and go crazy. We both LOVE homemade stuffing. Better than anything else except the cake. We got through this every year. So, I'm hoping that posting here will help me be proactive.

Oh yeah, and there will probably be no veggies to be found anywhere. That doesn't leave me much to fill up on, and the cake is the only thing I'm allowed to take. Frowner

I am having an interesting Thanksgiving Day. The brand new stove that my husband bought me yesterday just blew. We have no idea what happened. We are bringing the old stove back in so that we can finish baking the turkey and stuffing. I hate seeing that thing come BACK in the house.

I feel relaxed and not anxious about what I will be eating today. It feels like it's going to be a great day...food and otherwise.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Izzy,
I love running during sunrise too. The cold is a small price to pay for the tranquility during these runs.

I was in good company though this morning - there were other runners, walkers, etc...

T-Day:
I have the turkey in the oven and feel pretty ready for the day.
After I prep the brussel sprouts and broc, I am taking a 50 minutes walk.

I had my whole grain cereal for bfast. We are eating at 2.30ish. I will have a light, early lunch and call the big meal dinner.

My food plan for dinner is to have 3 oz of turkey leg (love the drum sticks), broc with lf cheese sauce, brussel sprouts, stuffing, half a biscuit and small amout of gravy on stuffing.
My good plates are 10" diameter with only 7" usable for food. This is smaller than my regualar, huge dinner plates. So... my plan is to eat a plateful.

I nibled and tasted pies yesterday (actaully I tasted too much and did not eat regualar meals) so I am skipping pie today. In general I'd so much rather eat savory stuff, so skipping pie is not a piggie for me.

isabel- love your post about the sun rising and a new day and forgiveness and letting go.

oh my goodness Brie, you are my hero. running in the dark at 29 degrees. altho i have to say, i love being in the dark (the cold--forget it!) because i love to watch the sun rise. there is something really magical about it. it is like forgiveness. when that sun rises, it is like everything that happened yesterday is forgiven, and we are given this wonderful chance to start over. you run your heart out!
ok, did 55 min on the elliptical trainer. i came home, and had a very small piece of cake for breakfast (i did make it with spelt flour though, does that count as a whole grain?), half a ff yogurt, and a starbucks coffe mixed with diet swiss miss. i am about to take puppy for a walk. then 3 friends are coming over, and we are going to do some abdominal work on the family room floor together strength in numbers!). once they leave, i will probably supplement the breakfast with some fruit while i continue to cook and clean. i am so grateful for my life. i am so grateful for peace in my heart. bless you all. izzy

Wednesday was good - b/l/s was the same as Tuesday and the fish stew was great for dinner. I skipped dessert and wine again and had an hour walk even though it was an "off" day.

Plan for turkey day:
I'm about to embark on a run even though it's dark and 29 degrees (I just have to do it today!).

We're doing whole wheat bagel with lox and lite cream cheese for breakfast as we're not eating until 1:30 at my parents.

I plan to limit wine, load up on veggies and avoid the high calorie items.

I'll report back later.

Addendum: 5 1/2 mile run done!

Thanks for the positive vibes Iz and othersSmiler
The day went great. We did M&M math (graphing), then made Oreo turkeys, watched Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving on the big screen, had reading class and went home. I brought my doggy today and everyone showed up to see her....kids normally "skip" on half days so she is a great incentive to be there for the funSmiler I had one oreo and a few M&M's and a little frosting....not bad at all!

B: Irish oatmeal with cherries, 16oz nonfat sugarfree caramel latte
S: see above...from turkey making
L: nonfat plain yogurt with suagarfree jam
E: Curves
S: Polenta "chips" dipped in marinara sauce and cottage cheese
D: Potato with vegetarian chili

Feeling good about tomorrow. Am meeting a friend to walk at 8am. I am in charge of the veggie dishes at mom's and she is on WW too so it should be a good day. My dad is known for his great fattening foods, so we will see what he does this yearFrowner

hi Kat, i am sending good vibes! You just tell yourself "I am all about success, and balancing my life." hang in there!
wednesday: great exercise, did a weights and core class. breakfast was eggbeaters, whole toast, a few raisens (for sweetness)Snack: pear.
Lunch : we celebrated my mother in law's birthday so we went to chinese buffet. This has typically been a tough thing for me but i stuck to the sushi (minus most of the rice), hot soup, cherry tomatos, honeydew melon. snack: homemade biscotti, frozen low fat yogurt, 3 crackers.i am spending the day prepping food. made a nice low cal chocolate cake, with chocolate genache sauce on top for tomorrow, so i am planning on how to spend my dessert calories. more later...iz

I'm doing well so far this week.

FIL arrived yesterday and he and dh had wine and dessert with dinner and I passed on both.

Last night we had salmon, mashed potatoes and asparagus and I had very my usual portions.

Today, I had a whole wheat breakfast roll (190), my usual soup and wrap at lunch and cereal with fruit and 2 oz of yogurt for snack. Dinner tonight was snow peas, baked chicken and baked fries with dd (dh and his dad went to a b-ball game).

Exercise was good Monday and today. I will probably end up taking tomorrow as an off day as I haven't had one in 10 days and my knee is telling me it needs a break.

Tomorrow should be fine food wise as we're eating at home (similar stuff for B/L/S and then a low fat broth based fish stew for dinner). Turkey day and the subsequent days will probably be more challenging but I'm for it!

Having a friend visit for a few days. So I am staying pretty busy. still getting my exercise in, but i am feeling a bit tired from all of the running around, and cooking, and shopping. I have kept to very reasonable meals. Brown rice and a lean protein, lots of veggies. Breakfast is usually whole grain toast, eggbeaters, a few raisens. Snack: fat free yogurt, fruit. Dinner has been varied. Monday, I had spring rolls (not fried). Tonight, I had a veggie burger. My weakness (altho not too bad) is having homemade biscotti after dinner (to get my crunch-cravings satisfied). The relatives come tomorrow, we are celebrating mother in law birthday. So I hope I can keep the stress level down so i don't turn to food for comfort. Nice to feel the support out there and the genuine concern for one another! i will check in as much as i can. thanks, iz

I've got to make the steel cut oatmeal again. I really liked it and its filling. I wonder if you could do a meusli type breakfast with the steel cut oats.
