Nothing eases the stress we feel over things we "should" do quicker than positive action. Write down something you've been putting off health wise. The "thing" that the little voice in your head rises to the surface every now and then trying to get your attention again! The thing you know you need to do but keep putting off:

A cholesterol check
A follow up visit to a specialist ordered by your doctor
A blood glucose check
Your annual physical
A trip to your obgyn
A trip to the gym
A trip to the grocery store for the "right" stuff
A trip to a sporting goods store for the new walking shoes you need...

Get honest with yourself about why you've been putting "it" off. Figure out what it's going to take for you to complete the task you've been avoiding. Shove the roadblocks aside and get busy doing what you need to do to take care of your health. Be thankful you have the chance, the choice and the ability. Now get busy Smiler

Awesome! Congrats on getting your insurance approved. I have to have the endoscopy AND have an official diagnosis of acid reflux disease for my insurance co. to let me go back on Prevacid, so I know what you're dealing with! My doc has me stocked up on office samples of Prevacid to hold me over and I am only taking them every other day to "stretch" them since it has taken me weeks to get 'round to making the endoscopy appt (and I had to make a consult appt. before I could even make an endoscopy appt.).

Yea, well, if I can make my boob-smooshin' appt., you can make your lady doc appt. Wink

Ooh thanks for the post Sheri! It reminded me I needed to post an update too.

I got approved for my insurance! They only included a rider regarding my TMJ. Granted, I "forgot" to mention a few things in the interview process. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Red Face

Hopefully soon I'll be able to get my asthma meds again - woo hoo! I could've used them during Sunday's soccer game. Talk about wheeeeezing. The altitude up there doesn't help.

Need to schedule an appt with a "lady doc" too. Ack.

Yeah, AZ has a low income insurance program. I was looking into it before, but with my new job, I'm 99% sure I earn too much to qualify.

I just got done with a phone interview for new insurance. It took FOREVER! I'm so nervous that I'm going to be denied. I have been before. Frowner

I need allergy shots. I have a tendency to put them off because I dread needles so much. I'm going to go right after work.

grrlscout -

I know that in our area at least, most hospitals offer a certain number of free care packages. Income requirements vary depending on where you are. It usually covers some of the basics, annual checkup er visits etc.

I thought I made too much, but I was wrong. It got me through until I was able to get a position with an affordable plan.

Hrmmm ... I've been uninsured for about a year now. So no Dr. trips for me. Though I'm well overdue for an ob/gyn visit, and would really like to get back on my asthma meds.

My current job doesn't offer insurance, but it subsidizes it a little. When I first started here, about 2 months ago, I looked into getting insurance, but then dropped it.

So I know what my task for the day is! ... Look into getting insurance again. Smiler

Well, I did this on Friday. I've been suffering from insomnia, and possible panic attacks and I finally called the doctor on Monday to make an appt., which I have this afternoon.

I also need to make a dentist appt.

I need to get to the shoe store and pick up those shoes I've had on layaway since January.

I must make a trip to the Health food store for spices and condiments so that we don't fall into old habits.

I need to double check and finish the paperwork for my appt. with the dietician next week

AND I need to check in on the dental appt's for everyone...I think I am first for a root canal

SheriVA: You need to clean out that purse and buy yourself a new one without so many pockets to hide things in. Big Grin I do the same thing with my planner...those little Dr's slips get shoved back into the pocket never to be seen again. I'll make a deal with you, I'll pull mine out; you pull yours out and we'll at least make appt's for when we can do it insurance-wise, okay? Smiler

O.K., I'll call the gynecologist tomorrow. I'm not overdue. I got a reminder notice a couple of weeks ago, but I have been to so many doctors lately for BP, allergies, shrinking, dentist, and thyroid. Recently had the blood thing done and know what those numbers are. Not bad, but not good either.

Well, a couple of things:

1. I've been carrying my GYN's scrip for my annual mammogram around in my purse for 2 months. However, due to my insurance, I have to wait until early August to schedule an appt so I'm not overdue on this YET.

2. I've been carrying my primary physician's scrip for an endoscopy around in the purse for 2-3 weeks. I need to make a call to the gastroenterologist and make an appt.

3. I've been carrying my GYN's scrip for a bone density scan (my second) in my purse for 2 months, too. Need to call and make the appt.

4. Though I did recently buy a new pair of sneakers, I did so through a podiatrist's office and they didn't tell me that my favorite style of New Balance sneaker, which I've been wearing exclusively for almost 10 years, has been discontinued. So I have a new pair of sneakers that's fine for shopping and touristing and such. But not for working out. Need to get to a good sporting place and buy something similar to the old New Balance 800.

Well I have been very MIA but I had been very sick and had some dental work done...both things make me VERY cranky and not want to "do the right thing". Now that both my husband and I are back on the wagon we went to the store to get some good stuff...We have decided our theme for the week is vegi's vegi's vegi's! We are both going to make sure we get all of our nec vegi servings, if we have sweets they will be fruit and very small ice cream (if any).

On Monday I will also call the dr to see about my cholesterol recheck....good call KD.

I am so back on the wagon!!!

Live Laugh and Love,
Kristin

Need to schedule annual physical. I have avoided it because I was over my goal weight until the past few months. I hate being weighed over goal.
I will call tomorrow and hope to have the apt. this summer.

I have my appt with the endocrinologist on Thursday. I would have much preferred to see him sooner but that was the earliest I could get an appt.

I do need to find the time to schedule a trip to the organic market this week to stock up on healthy snacks for my dd! I will make an appt with myself and write it into my calendar.
