I had no sooner placed my bowl and spoon in the dishwasher (special K cereal and banana) when one of my kids came in the door and her mother brought me an egg mcmuffin. I knew I should have told her I just finished breakfast and I would eat it later, but instead I unwrapped the thing and ate it while she ate hers. All the while my head was saying just tell her you already ate. I so totally gave in to temptation. Now I'm feeling sick. I hate eating so much you feel sick! I've done that too many times in my life.

Stephanie:

Most days you are so good. Remember those days. I wouldn't have been able to say no to that. At least you didn't aske her for hers too. HA HA. I ate this half of cookie from Subway only because my boss bought it fo me to make me smile. How could I have fallen for that line huh? I didn't eat the whole thing though, but felt so guilty the rest of the day as if my clothes wouldn't fit no b/c I ate the freaking cookie. So I know how you feel. Keep up all of your hard work and it is ok to have a little extra once in a while. I keep eating those Klondike bars myself, so there it is. If you become too strict most likely that will be what causes you to eat less healthier more often.

Laurie...Once in a week won't kill the overall week. Like others said lighten up the rest of the day and bike, walk, whatever it is you do.
Hubby sometimes suprises me with breakfast, MD's Egg & Cheese ( I finally got him to at least not buy me the ones with bacon or sausage)
Don't think of one meal as failure of the whole day !

I don't think I could turn down egg Mcmuffin delivery. Its one thing to talk yourself into staying away from the drive thru. But like others have said, just have a really clean rest of the day and I'm sure you'll be fine.

That would have been a really hard one! You had no mental preparation. An egg mcmuffin just sort of falls from the sky out of the blue.

I probably would have done the same thing.

Question: Does that happen often? If it does... I would think that the next step would be figuring out how to tactfully prevent food from appearing out of the blue in the future.

Not too much damage, though, Hang in there!!

Just have a lighter lunch and you'll be fine. Of all the things to eat from McD's for breakfast, that's probably one of the better ones.

Stephanie,

There must be something in the water on these boards. Yesterday I totally made a lousy choice in lunch, which screwed up my entire rest of the day. No matter what you did this morning, remind yourself that it is just one day. You have worked really hard to do take off the weight, and this is one meal in a whole week, month, etc.

It's frustrating to fall into temptation, but focus on the positive...you know that you made a mistake, so now you have the opportunity to stretch yourself a little bit and see how good a comeback you can do today and tomorrow. Don't beat yourself up over one instance (or even bunches of them). You've done so much good for yourself in so many ways. One day of backsliding isn't going to change that.

Stephanie,
Yesterday my mom was here and after lunch she wanted to go for ice cream. I ordered a kid's size and felt yucky afterwards. I kept beating myself up and finally decided that I can just start from now and think of what I did as a something to learn from. (I am really vulnerable when my Mom offers food and need to come up with ways to deal with this.)
You look so great. Be careful the rest of the day. (I will to as I have extra ice cream calories to burn!) This is a small speed bump and not a real problem!
