I am a 37 year old single mom of one and I am new to your site.

A little about me.
I had a very traumatic childhood which I won't get into much other then to say that I grew up in a family where I just did feel I belonged. I loved them all very much and still do but always felt the outsider. I didn't have so much of weight problem until I was older and on my own. I carry the weight well pretty much all over the place but still was over weight. I trimmed down went back up trimmed down went back up etc. I got married and had a son. My marriage was horribly abusive and when my son was 4 I finally said I can't take this anymore. He wasn't so much physical as he was mentally and verbally. I had no self esteem left. For a year I really took care of me. I spent my time watching with small steps what I ate and some weight came off. I also worked on me on the inside in many ways. A year later about the time that we did actually divorce rather then seperate, I met a wonderful guy that I am still with today. Not getting married at this point. If it isn't broken don't fix it. LOL

Anyway, he was always an athlete and looked great all the time. He really took pride in his health. At this point I started really researching further into the right ways to eat. I learned quite a bit and using many of the exact same principles of Kathleen....I took off even more weight. About two years ago I felt I needed to take it to the next level and that is when the exercise came into play. I read everything, started running at home on a treadmill with intervals of walking and running and the weight came off even more. Last year I ran my first ever marathon 60 lbs lighter then I was 4 years ago and in the best shape of my life. However my quest for information never leaves me. I think it is what keeps me on track. About a year ago I developed unexplained edema and can swell up even as much as 16 lbs of water weight over night. Since then I am weighing over 12 lbs more then my low. I want so much to make it to my final goal for me and all this hard work but am having a very difficult time. I need support. I have 19 more lbs to make it to that goal.

Anyway, that is me. Sorry so long. Sometimes it does help to know people better to be able to talk to them.
Thanks for listening.

Thanks to all of you. I am leaving this morning for Spring break and I cried like a baby when I dropped my son off at school This is the first time I have left him at Spring break time. He is going with his father on a cruise for the first time ever. It is also his 10th birthday. I cried and cried.

Hugs to you all. I have my emergency cooler packed for the trip. YEAH I will stay on plan.

Thanks to both of you. Please don't get me wrong I didn't mean to be a big sob story. Funny thing is that if there really is Karma....I must have been a really bad person in a previous life. HEE....The hard part is that when you go through one thing after another and another (the ones mentioned weren't even 1/100th of it) as I have...people start to take you for granted. Oh you can take it your tuff. Sometimes you get tired of having to be so strong all the time.

Anyway thanks for the welcome and the support. I really need that right now.
