I was curious, of those who eat store-bought yogurt, what brand(s) you've found that meet your criteria.

I used to have these criteria: inexpensive, fat-free, sugar-free. And I was okay with some of the store-brand flavors.

However, I'm trying to get away from as much artificial sweetener, and yogurt's one place I'm willing to make the trade.

I picked up a few Stonyfield Farms flavors, and the non-fat was. . .gritty. The low-fat was better, but the store only had one flavor of the low-fat.

Any feedback on other brands so I can pick a few up on my next trip?

I LOVE the taste of Wallaby yogurt, it is organic and quite yummy. I have to be very careful to not eat too much thought, because it bothers my lactose intolerance more than other yogurts.

I also like Horizon's organic yogurt. I like it much better than the Stoneyfield Farms.

P.S. I checked the Stonyfield Farms website, and the difference between 6 oz. of the Vanilla and the Plain lowfat yogurts was only 50 calories. Considering that I added honey to the plain to make it palatable, 50 calories doesn't seem like a big deal difference for something I like so much better.

When I was in Chicago, I did have something called "Nature's Breakfast" at the Corner Bakery that was pretty good: Plain yogurt, chopped fruit, uncooked oats, and some milk. It was very filling. I thought that might be something worth trying at home. Of course I had it with a huge mocha latte. It's lucky that I walked everywhere while I was there, because I ate a lot.

I've made myself quite happy with Columbo's vanilla nonfat yogurt. It tastes just like whatever brand McDonalds uses in their fruit and yogurt parfait, and (coincidentally) goes fantastic with KD's granola from book 1.

Just wanted to say I picked up Stonyfield's "Yobaby" yogurt (I know it says it's for toddlers & babies, but they had PEAR flavor!!!!) and it is deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious. It's just about the right size, too, the container looks big but doesn't have a whole lot in it, so I feel like I'm eating a bigger portion of yogurt.

Store didn't have Brown Cow or Cascadian Farms (though they do have the Cascadian Farms frozen berries & vegetables), so I'll hit a few other places and see if those are available anywhere nearby.

I have been having the Stonyfield vanilla lowfat with fruit and/or granola and/or nuts. I have tried the plain and it is still a little yucky to me without some honey or other sweetner. I haven't taken a look at the sugar difference in the two. The flavor of the vanilla is really good and rich and with bananas and a few nuts, I feel like I'm having a sundae for breakfast!

I have switched myselfoff sweetened yogurts. I can't have equal.. it triggers my headaches. I now enjoy the stoneyfield plain nonfat yogurt. I stir in either some frozen berries or a spoonful of the no sugar added fruit spreads. If feeling really indulgent i stir in frozen raspberries and dark chocolate syrup. Smiler

I didn't believe it when I compared, but, my store's brand is cheaper, 39 cents, and has the fewest calories (74/6 ounces) than any of the others in the store. Even the lf/lo sugar/diet kind were higher, but at least 30 calories. They contained all kinds of things I couldn't pronounce. But this store brand was filled with fruit, a some sugar, and the rest milk products.
I was impressed, pays to read the labels.

I'm gathering that I'll need to start putting some effort into my yogurt habit Smiler

The Publix sugar-free/fat-free was my yogurt of choice (and has been for several years!), but I just don't want the sugar substitutes anymore, and the regular Publix yogurt doesn't taste good enough for me.

I'll try Brown Cow, Cascadian Farms, and I'll try the Stonyfield plain low-fat (my only complaint was the non-fat, guess I didn't make that real clear), and I'll start getting creative with the flavors Smiler

Yay! Another reason to experiment in the kitchen!

Thanks for the advice Smiler

(there's no Trader Joe's anywhere nearby, otherwise I'd be all over some Trader Joe's stuff, I had some when on business in Boston and nearly passed out, it was so darn tasty)

I like the Publix (a grocery here in FL) brand apple pie flavor. I'm wanting to start using plain yogurt to cut back on the sugar in the flavored ones. What is everyone's favorite fruits to put into plain?

D. I use Dannon no fat Plain yougurt, I like the rest of the gals here mix it with fruit, granolla,
splenda, I have aslo tried Walmarts Brand Blue Bunny Pina colada and Key Lime Pie which were very good, on the Pina colada I added 1 peice of pineapple (chopped up small) and added some coconut extract, on the Key Lime Pie I used a little bit of Lime Juice and a few scrapes of the zest an some splenda. (on this one you can add a few drops of green food coloring if you want to.

Oooooo - I like Brown Cow, too. I've only seen full fat kind - coffee flavor - it is more like Ben and Jerry's than yogurt.

We like the Brown Cow yogurts.

I like the Stonyfield farms - lowfat, not non-fat. I like that it is Organic and to me that's worth a few extra pennies. I eat it with fruit and honey, dollop it on top of a spicy curry, or use it to make yogurt cheese.

I have never found it gritty. but that's me

I too am tending more and more toward buying plain nonfat or low fat and then adding my own fruit and or sweetener. I think that the flavor is better and I am less and less comfortable with the long list of ingredients in some of them...
I also like to drain the yogurt and eat it plain with some pita or pretzles.

Right now, I have Dannon Light n Fit. It seems that the store is always having a 10 for $5 sale on yoghurt. I stock up then.

I like to supplement it with sliced grapes and a combination of Kashi 7 in the Morning and wheat germ.

I buy Mountain High brand. Non-fat, plain - in half gallon tub. Like ltd, I think that the fruit yogurt doesn't have enough fruit and too much sugar. I'd rather add my own sugar.

I eat it with fruit or on curries.

It is almost ok to eat plain if you drain it (in a small strainer lined with a coffee filter) over night first.

I've heard good things about the TJ yogurt.

I buy Trader Joe's plain nonfat yogurt. It is not made with sweetner and is only 80 calories for 1 carton (6 ounces). I've never had plain yogurt before, but I was buying the fruity kind before and then adding more fruit to it and I decided that was too much sugar. So now I buy the plain and add raspberries, blueberries and golean crunch to it in a bowl. I'm not sure that I could eat the plain - plain!!
