Just returned from Florida and a visit with my older brother and his wife on Amelia Island. Had great weather (though a little cool) and a wonderful visit. They took me on a carriage ride through Fernandina Beach yesterday (the horse was a 1 1/2-ton draft horse named Boomer, a real charmer!) and then out for cocktails and dinner at the pier at sunset. It was such an incredibly memorable birthday! And not to mention the first time my brother and I have spent our birthdays together (his was Monday, mine was Tuesday) in 40+ years.

Hey kids...I assume you know by now from seeing my posts (LOL) but I'm home from Bday Vaca, Part 2. Drove straight from Delaware to my mammogram appointment in Virginia this morning. Last night was my virtual birthday celebration with my best friends in DE, so I am a little bleary-eyed (and brained) today.

Pix from Delaware:

Birthday fit for a queen! My friends gave me the royal treatment for my "virtual" birthday yesterday (my actual birthday was on Tuesday while I was in Florida).

Lantana--that's the name of that plant/flower? I never heard of that before. Is it known for drawing butterflies? I had never seen such a thing before--there were almost as many butterflies as there were flowers!

These flowers were right out front of the restaurant where we had dinner--at the pier, which is one of the most visited sites in Fernandina, so I figured they may have planted those flowers purposely because they drew butterflies.

Yep and Yep Smiler I have some planted at the corner of my house. In this area it dies down in the winter but comes back in the spring. It is a beautiful plant and has tons of flowers. I have some with the solid yellow blooms but also some with yellow, pinkish & orangish mixed blooms. Butterflies, hummingbirds (and bees Razzer) love it. There is a plant similar called "Verbena" (sorry if I am not spelling some of these correctly) that has blue and purple-ish blooms.

Thank you Dawn (and Kaye). I was wincing when I pulled the pix off the camera last night--I felt they were some of the worst pix of me since 2003...except for the pic with the horse, which I thought was okay. There are several I didn't even post (here, on SparkPeople or on Flickr) because I felt they were so unflattering. So I especially appreciated your comments today!

Couple of my favorite pix from this trip:

My older brother Michael, his wife Annie and I with Boomer, the 1 1/2-ton draft horse that pulled our carriage during our tour of Fernandina Beach, Fla.

Just before sunset at the pier in Fernandina Beach, Fla. We had drinks and dinner right there at the pier at sunset on my birthday last night. It was AMAZING.

Right by the pier pictured above there is a little flower garden. When I took my walk yesterday, I found it completely covered in butterflies. A wondrous sight!

Cocktails, anyone? Just as the sun was setting, we rocked on the porch of the pier restaurant with a cocktail. Ready for the rocker, indeed! Wink
