I love orzo but as yet have not seen it sold in whole wheat, except that in one of those new Lean Cuisine "spa meals" they have whole wheat orzo as a side, so I know it must exist. Has anyone found it? If so, what brand and did you like it?

Hey Sheri,
Wanted to chime in here that, at least in CO, dried pasta like this will last a REALLY long time especially if sealed. Also, if you were concerned about bugs, etc., you woudn't be limited to freezing it. Refrigeration would probably be adequate for dried pasta. You can get those skinny tall cylinders from Rubbermaid and they fit nicely in the back of a fridge shelf. Just a thought...

Yes, I do! It's in the Recipe folder. If you go in there and use the find feature to search on "chicken and orzo" you should be able to find it under my name.

Yea...freezer space IS a problem for me. Have a tiny freezer in my fridge and no space for a separate freezer. I think my best bet is to either find someone else who sells it by the container or to find some friends/coworkers to go in on an order with me.

I do love my chicken and orzo, but I always feel a little guilty because it's "white pasta" and I rarely eat white food anymore.

You know, I was reading something somewhere recently, that was saying white pasta isn't as bad for you as many people had made it out to be. It is made from "duram wheat" a/k/a "semolina" flour, which is different than standard refined white flour.

Our Albertson's and Vons grocery stores carry that particular brand of orzo and couscous (the one in the link), so I'm going to ask them if they can order the ww orzo for me.

Blessings,

Dawn,
Sometimes our WF has ww cousous (plain) in the bulk bins.
We don't eat much couscous- but buying and using ww couscous might make it more attractive.

Thanks for posting that link, Gail. Too bad that it only comes in a 4-pack. Frowner Being a live-alone single, that would take me ages to go through. But maybe I'll ask some friends and see if they want to go in on it with me. Smiler

Hi Sheri,
I've not tried whole wheat orzo before but I bet it's good. Here's a website that sells it if you're interested. *S*
