it was a body pump morning. i increased the weight amounts on the bar, so i am feleing the burn, definitely. good deal!

i also weighed myself. since the last time, i am 3 pounds down. i know the last time i weights, i was 5 down. so that makes 8 pounds since jan 1st. about less than 3 pounds per month. just the pace i enjoy. i think i would like to lose 4 more at this same pace.
moderation suits me well.

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.

Had my second at-home workout with my neighbor Jean this morning. We did 45-60 mins of Pilates (Pilates Conditioning for Weight Loss with Suzanne Deason).

I let Jean choose from my DVD library yesterday for our first at-home workout. She chose upper arm weights from Tamilee Webb's I Want That Body! and the 3-mile Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansone with stretchie bands. She wasn't able to make it through the entire 3 miles, so I fast forwarded through about 1/2 mile of the last mile.

WOW, what a great workout! Even though I walk daily and have been going to the gym for almost a year, I still felt that workout a lot!

As the universe's reward to me, I dropped (just barely) under 165 this morning for the first time since December 2008. Yay!

Sheri,

That is similar to my getting a walking buddy (when I wasn't working). We helped each other and committed to getting those walks in.

I have missed walking since I went to work at the beginning of this year, but something is going right anyway. I've dropped almost 20# since I went to work. The doc said today that it could be the stress of having a job with nothing to do. Hmmmm.

Hey Jill,
I totally understand. I was working on a huge project in January, February, and the first week of March. It got done, but most of the rest of my life didn't. I just couldn't balance the house, the health, and everything else with work. I don't know how people with kids do it. My best advice is ask for help. Can the BF help with pick up/drop off duties with your daughter? Could either or both of them help with menu planning/ cooking? Even if it is just until you finish with your dance recital, every little bit helps. Call merry maids, or put someone else on laundry duty. You won't always get the answer you would like, but hopefully your family can see how stressed you are and will want to help.

I threatened to go on a cooking/cleaning strike. It didn't help. I realized that if I didn't want to eat Cheerios for dinner every night I just had to do the cooking myself, and that made me kind of pissy and resulted in some poor choices on my part. Maybe a more productive choice would have been to just make sandwiches for dinner and tell the s.o. to suck it up.

I noticed that I have been stress eating more than usual in the last few months. I tried to just be aware of it, and when I could I would just get a drink, ( water, not a mojito...) and see if that would solve the problem. Mostly it was an avoidance thing. Getting water worked just as well as making a snack at putting off the task at hand.

You could see if one of your friends could bring you dinner one night. Or maybe try one of those places that you can make up dinners for the whole week. I haven't tried them, so I don't know how pricey they are, but it has to be better for you than fast food or pizzas all week.

I also think it's o.k. to just give yourself permission to let a few things slide while you are super stressed and know that you will take care of them when you have more time. I don't think that anyone can do all of the things you're doing and not stress out unless they have a little help. I know that I have let things slide on the exercise front and the food front. I knew that there would be consequences for that, but at the time I didn't care. Now all my pants are too tight. Boo. But that was the choice I made. Now I am right there with you struggling to get back on track. It's happening, but slowly. Just hang in there.

sheri, that sounds like a working plan. i used to invite friends over to do a core workout the morning of thanksgiving. i have balls and weights and stuff, but most of my friends have some kind of equipment to bring. strength in numbers!

jilly, i hear you girl. i think the reasoni am consistent is because the rhythm of my life does not change that often. every now and then, i have to travel for something, but i try to plan around that--hotel gym, or delay the workout for later in the day. i think, if my daily rhythm was irregular or jsut too packed, i would be facing the same dilemmas you are now facing.

i have been fighting allergies! for 2 weeks now--i cannot breath. my chest feels full of phlem. i am the phlem queen--what a title! i have missed one day of gym to rest. but other than that, i am plugging away in the mornings--but it makes cardio pretty hard when it is hard to breathe. tomorrow is body pump, and then next week, dd has spring break so i don't have to drive her to school. i plan to do body pump mon and wednesday, since i can go directly to work from the gym next week. yahoo!

1. Enjoy life!

I pitched an idea to a friend and neighbor the other day (the one I used to go to the gym with, until her membership elapsed and she couldn't afford to rejoin right then). She told me earlier this week that she can feel the difference in her body with not working out (she's in her 60s, so I know what she means).

Since she needed to get back to working out and I want to get back to doing some of my workout DVDs to supplement my gym workouts and walking to help with weight loss, I pitched the idea of her coming to my place twice a week and doing a DVD workout. I have 3 sets of weights, 2 balance balls, a set of 3 stretchies and a library of varied DVD workouts.

Our first workout is in less than an hour!
