oh my. off plan. had a birthday celebration with real mexican food. oh my. i realize why iam chinese and not mexican. the food feels really heavy in my system. i don't think i can honestly eat the rest of the day. but i have to say---real mexican food cooked by real mexicans...wow!!! unbelievable!
i did do 1 hour of elliptical training and little bit of weights. we are feeling the effects of Hanna. the rain was so heavy this morning and the wind was super strong. around 10am, i heard a loud crack. a tree fell on my house. i was quite a loud snap sound. i thought God was sending me lightening bolt message: "PUT THAT FORK DOWN AND STEP AWAY FROM THE MEXICAN FOOD ISABEL!!!" so i called home depot--to rent a chainaw for one day is ridiculous. so i ran out and bought a new chainsaw at the hardware store.
all in all, an intersting day. Tropical Storm Hanna, Mexican food, tree, and chainsaw. nothing was on plan, including the eating.
Goals: 1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire. 2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy. 3. One word 2008: courage 4. Eat slow and mindfully.
9/6/08: No weigh in. Biked short stretches 4x 10 mins. Overate at dinner (my other meals weren't too hot either). Feel horribly fat. Will probably wake up at 5 a.m. because of dinner. Am taping the Rita Hayworth movie Gilda tonight. I wonder if she'd be considered "fat" today?

I posted on the other thread this morning and have been gone all day .
My sister is out of town and I agreed to feed her dogs, & goats and bird while she is gone. It is an all day job because she lives an hour north of me and the dogs get fed three times a day so I have to stay there all day.
I have to go back up there tomorrow but I have dancing on Sunday so a neighbor of her's is going to feed them that day.

Wondering what you think is healthy, reasonable.
I can generally limit myself to 2 per week, but notice when I am tired or stressed I want more DC.
How do you handle it?
Any tips for cutting down?
My tips are: 1. make myslef drink 12 oz of water BEFORE the soda-- often after the water, I will easily skip the soda. 2. Mix diet soda with soda water- drink half the can and dump the other half of the can down the sink- better than dumping it down my throat.
I seem to go in spurts. Usually I don't drink diet pop at all, maybe once/month. This summer, I drank way more than usual - couple of times/week, sometimes more.
At sporting events, I'd rather drink diet pop than beer because of the calories and the pop usually fills me up enough that I won't eat, whereas if I'm just drinking water, I'll have food too.
Usually though, I stick to water and tea (nothing added).
I don't know what is consider healthy pop consumption. Really, there is nothing good for you in pop.
I have read studies that showed the women who drank more than one diet pop per day had greater difficulty losing weight but who knows what the variables are in taht type of study.
Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
On the diet soda thing, I try to limit myself to 1-2 per day. This may seem excessive, but 3-4 years ago I was drinking 6-7 per day.
I like water just fine, but I also like a beverage with flavor. Iced tea is fine, but I am not a big fan of instant, so unless I want to make a pitcher, it's usually easier to drink soda.
I have also been fully decaffeinated for about 2.5 years, so iced tea can be tricky in public.
I have been experimenting a bit with the soda. I have noticed that if I drink water with lunch I feel less hungry than if I drink diet soda.
I will fully admit that part of it is habit, and part of it is just laziness, but I do like the flavor and the bubbles. Plain soda water doesn't do much for me, unless I jazz it up with some sweetener and a lime or two.
I would be open to suggestions for other beverages or other ideas for cutting back.
I generally don't drink juice, since it seems like empty calories. I am lactose intolerant, so milk isn't a favorite, although I do drink an occasional glass of lactose free milk. And coffee is gross.
I am planning to weigh once a week vs. daily. I become too obsessive when I weigh-in daily and it affects my mood way too much as well. I went onto Fitday today. I really like the new format. I like that there is a place to write journal entries, there is a Mood section which I love. I put in my moods for today and there is a smiley face that depicts the mood you are in. Mine was very "neutral" looking. The line where the smile/frown is was straight across, pretty much expressionless, LOL. Exactly how I am feeling today. Not stressed, not energetic, I am just kinda here today There is also a section to post body measurements. Now, if I could just find that darn tape measure I'd be good.

Summer Challenge Goals: 1) Walk 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week 2) Plan weekly menus
Weighed in same as yesterday. Measurements ditto. Food not 100%, a bit too many snacks on the run (lunch was two pieces of toast w/turkey and greens; I'm used to a hot meal). Biked short stretches. Dinner is late but home-cooked (roasted chicken legs, pasta side for the kids and additional veg side for me) and it's finally Friday night.

I am having two social events today, ladies in the afternoon for beading, then friends for dinner.
Dinner is planned and should be reasonably healthy. Green Chile Chicken, Rice or Corn, Salad and a veggie. Chocolate Chip Cookies for dessert.
I measured my breakfast items. I have ridden the exercise bike. Spent most of yesterday vacuuming and mopping, so the upper arms are a bit sore.
Haven't stepped on the scale today, but the damage from vacation wasn't quite as bad as I thought.
I do need to work on scaling back the diet soda consumption. I fell off the wagon a bit during vacation. Today I will only have two sodas, one with lunch and one with dinner.
