My father asked me this week to buy a dress for my mother. For those who don't know, my mother is dying from lung cancer (put out those cigs!!!) Anyway, it is a task I take with pleasure. However, having all boys, and not knowing how to find a dress for a woman who is at 86 pounds and probably less has me stumped. I have looked in the petite section, too big I think. I am planning on the teen section --- will they have things that aren't cutsey? I don't know. I have to see what 86 pounds looks like...at 5'1", too. But my son has no girl friends who are that small. So if anyone has done this before or has an idea let me know. I am shopping when I find some answers.
thanks again, Cathy J

Cathy I'm sorry too - I didn't realize. I'm sure that you will be able to find something appropriate that the funeral home will be able to work with.

One more thought, we haven't figured out what to get her for Christmas yet, I am going to look for pants....elastic that can be taken in in the back seam....she has many beautiful sweaters that would cover my bad sewing. Good ideas.
Thanks Cathy

I agree... Size 0 petite dress. I am only 37, but when I go to the teen section, I feel like I am 87. I agree with Bee, stick to Ann Taylor or Talbots, Liz Petites or something like that.

Cathy I don't think you are going to have much luck in the teen section just from a style perspective. Try a petite shop (Petite Sophisticate or Ann Taylor petites) and go with a size 0. It may need to be taken in but it'll probably be the closest you can come. I would also elicit the help of the sales person to find a style that won't look like it's swimming on your mom (maybe even something that has a belt or a tie).
Good luck - it's alway tough buying clothes foro someone else especially if you have a size issue.
