Here's a "fill in the blanks" assignment:

1. What is your single favorite exercise?
2. In addition to KD's books, what is your next favorite healthy cookbook?
3. After KD, who is your favorite celebrity chef?
4. What is your favorite healthy food?
5. After CT, what is your favorite cooking show?

Laurie...

Funny story about Graham Kerr. He lives in the same County I do and his grandkids used to attend the school I student taught at (I'm sure they are out of school thoughSmiler

Anyway he did a cooking demo in a 2nd grade class which was very fun for the kids. About a month later the teacher kept smelling this horrible, nasty smell.

The janitor finally realized it was coming from the emergency kit which was a huge rubbermaid garbage can with tight lid. Yes, Graham thought it was the classroom garbage can and had thrown egg yolks in it cuz he had used just the whites.

It took years to get that smell out but we laugh about it now!!!

I've also heard that his garage sales are fabulous and people line up hours ahead of timeSmiler I've never attempted one!

Skiing...

But I don't really consider it exercise...

I almost asked you that! I think hiking was a primary contributor to all that weight loss. I burned mega calories one day a week...whatever gets it done. As for you Denise, it might not be 'exercise' but is sure has served as a major motivator for you! Smiler

1. What is your single favorite exercise?

Tough one. Your running response is one of my favorites, but I think I'd go with yoga. Someday I'd like to become a certified instructor. Maybe I should change my name to YogaGirl.

2. In addition to KD's books, what is your next favorite healthy cookbook?

Healthy in a Hurry (I did a review of it)

3. After KD, who is your favorite celebrity chef?

Julia Child. Smiler

4. What is your favorite healthy food?

Tomato-basil salad with just a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Fresh mozzerella is a good addition but not required.

5. After CT, what is your favorite cooking show?

I don't really watch them much anymore. My husband watches "Good Eats" and I'll watch it with him, but most of them I've seen a million million times. I used to like Jamie Oliver but then he got too hyper. I love "Iron Chef" but I don't watch it much.

1. What is your single favorite exercise?

Running

2. In addition to KD's books, what is your next favorite healthy cookbook?

I have both of KD cookbooks and love them. I don't know that I have a "next favorite healthy" cookbook, I just try to make the recipes more healthy when I prepare them. I like my Bell's Best Cookbook, Giada de Laurentiis' Everyday Italian and my South Beach cookbook (NO, I am NOT a "no-carber" folks, relax!! LOL!!!)

3. After KD, who is your favorite celebrity chef?

Paula Deen, Alton Brown, Rachael Ray, Giada de Laurentiis, Sarah Moulton, oh...so many of them..but not many from the newer shows.

There used to be quite a few on PBS that I really liked also. I'll have to start watching PBS again if our local station picks up KD's new show!!! I always liked Chef Marion from Victory Garden.

4. What is your favorite healthy food?

Ooooh, so many of these too....Tomatoes, grapefruit, yellow squash, cantaloupe, I could go on & on!!

5. After CT, what is your favorite cooking show?

See answer to #3 and match Chef's to their show's.

I also really loved "Mario Eats Italy" but it was only on for 1 season Frowner

1. What is your single favorite exercise?

Kickboxing

2. In addition to KD's books, what is your next favorite healthy cookbook?

I rarely use cookbooks, so I don't really have a favorite.

3. After KD, who is your favorite celebrity chef?

I like a lot of different people for different reasons. For example, I adore Paula Deen and Ina Garten because of the pleasure they get from cooking and eating, but I probably wouldn't use their recipes (even if I was a recipe person) because they don't cook healthy. I like Rachel Ray because she's entertaining and energetic and because her meals are on the simpler side. I like Alton Brown because he's quirky and provides so much information about food and cooking.

4. What is your favorite healthy food?

I have an entry in my journal from the last time this question was asked in a homework. I remember writing that I was so concerned that, when I went to do the homework, I couldn't really think of an answer; whereas, if you'd have asked me 5 years ago (before I was eating healthy) what my favorite food was, I could have given you a list without hesitation.

Now I am less concerned by the fact that things don't immediately pop into my head when I'm asked what my favorite healthy food is, because perhaps that means that I am less fixated on food and that's a good thing.

Actually, when I read the question this time, something DID pop into my head right away. Pasta salad. yea, I know, you may not immediately think of that as healthy food, but I make it with ww pasta, LOADS of veggies and a homemade low-in-fat but high-in-taste dressing. I'm having it for lunches this week, which is why it came immediately to mind! Smiler

5. After CT, what is your favorite cooking show?

As with #3, I don't have just one answer. I like a lot of shows for different reasons. One of my favorites is Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa because she's a great cook but also a great entertainer. I also love that she gets out and goes food shopping on her show and that she has that stunning herb and flower garden in her back yard.
