My day was different but nice. I was in the Detroit area, so my mom woke me up at 9 and said "If we don't get moving, we'll only have time for breakfast at McDonald's." So, I got up and got ready, then my cousin got up and he went with us. We went out for breakfast at a little diner in the town where he lives. I was able to buy my mom breakfast on Mother's Day.

After that, off to the airport. When I we got back DH picked us up and had flowers in the car for me that DS had asked him to get. We stopped to pick up Thai food on the way home, but they were closed. So, we ended up getting pasta and salad on the way home, and decadent desserts. (I got strawberry cheesecake and ate less than half of the HUGE piece.)

DH and I drank wine with dinner, then I went and took a bubble bath and finished my wine in the tub.

All in all, it was a relaxing evening. DS was so exhausted, he fell asleep before 8 watching TV.

OK. Lori. Next year, send your kids over here to train mine. Smiler

Not one for the books, however, I did get the very first 'all on her own' gift from one of my girls (zero parent intervention or money) which made my day.

I LOVE Mother's Day.....my family spoils me rotten Smiler Got to sleep in, was served breakfast in bed with an egg, 2 muffins (made by Rebekah), and fruit salad (made by Rachel and Hannah) and 2 roses from the garden (cut by daddy and Rachel) served in a "tray" made from a cardboard box designed and decorated by Rachel, Hannah, Matthew and Rebekah. We went to church, and then to a friends' house for Mother's Day lunch with another family. We had a pasta bar, salad, fruit, bread, and a choice of a couple of different desserts....I had the chocolate torte....one of my alltime favorite desserts! After lunch and some swimming (for the kids) we came home and I got a nap and read for a while. Dh grilled a tritip, made steamed broccoli (his first time ever...they were a little overdone for my tastes, but he did great!), bread, salad, and watermelon. Rebekah baked brownies for dessert, so I had 1 small brownie with one small scoop of chocolate ice cream.

All in all an awesome day, but I'll have to work extra hard at the gym this week, and have an extra clean week of eating to make up for the extra calories, but it was all worth it!

Oh, my gifts....dh got me 2 truffles from See's (I did eat half of one yesterday), the three younger kids each got me something from Bath & Body works...girly stuff Smiler, and Rebekah got me herbs and strawberry plants for my garden Smiler Plus what they made at church for me.....I just LOVE Mother's Day Smiler

Blessings,

Lori

Hope everybody had a Happy Mother's Day.

Last night my godson's oldest daughter (age 4) had her first dance recital yesterday. Afterward we went out to eat (about 14 of us).

Dd brought me and her grandmother flowers then she & I went out to breakfast which she paid for. After that we went to Cingular and she bought me a new cell phone to replace my obsolete one.

Let's see...

12:01am - parking lot of Disneyland boarding a bus with 30 fourteen year olds.

5am - Some rest stop on Hwy 5, with a puking kid, who was only "mine" for that hour. I was beautiful to be up at dawn and it was a lovely morning... just wished it was happier circumstances. Got kid changed and clothes and bus cleaned up.

8:30am - Mother's Day brunch from McDonalds. Opened gifts from dh (a frying splatter pan [I have NO idea why he got me that Smiler] and "To Do" list with a pretty sunflower cover... that I can imagine why he thought that a good gift. Smiler)

8:30-9am - watched This Week with George Stephanopoulos with my family, but I slept through half of it.

9-2pm slept

2pm dh brought me a Asian Salad from McDonalds

3pm on messed around on computer, made a fruit smoothie, wrote a couple emails, but generally wasted time.

7somthingpm decided I needed to exercise as I am still stir crazy from being cooped up on the bus, and hoping for a good nights sleep tonight. 35 mins on ellipical (very pleased with self and the change this represents Smiler since in past natural inclination was to ignore any desire to exercise) and a shower.

8:30 dh bought strawberries and angel food cake (at my request) (very pleased with dh and the change this represents because in the past he would have bought angel food cake, strawberry SYRUP, ice cream and whipped cream Smiler)

9:15 going night, night.

Over all a good day!

I ended up having one of the better mother's day I've had ever. DD greated me this morning with a scavenger hunt for my present. She has little clues that led me to her homemade gifts, a card, a book and a magnet butterfly thing she made at school. It was very sweet and she was so excited to give it to me.

I got in a long soak in the tub this morning (I think that qualifies for Cate's homework) and then my parents came down. My mom and I took a drive together and got in some good alone time.

The only snag today was that dh was supposed to grill and ran out of propane after the grill was pre-heated : ( We ended up throwing everything in the oven and it was fine.

It was a great weekend overall and I'm a bit sad that it's over!

I made Mom a (baked) "fresh lime pie", her favorite.

It's a special day - no "eating guilt" allowed.

Hope all the mothers are being nurtured and cared for today.

I was showered with handmade gifts from dd. Dh got me a cert. for a pedicure at my favorite spot and some great soaps.

I made it to the gym for a great workout and a LONG, uninterupted shower.

Came home to pancakes and turkey sausage.

I hope to run a few errands this afternoon.

All in all a good day.
