I just found out that one of my two real friends that I've made since I moved to Atlanta, died this weekend.

I'm still numb. I can't believe it, I think it really isn't even sinking in.

She was only 60 years old, not particularly overweight, and she died from a massive heart attack. I know she didn't exercise regularly, but she was very active. She and her husband were involved in church activities, Corvette Club, and other community organizations.

I'm just beside myself. PLEASE ladies, read up on the symptoms of heart attacks in women,it differs from symptoms in men, and we don't always pay attention to them. Apparently she went to the hospital and they sent her home.

I'm so saddened by the loss of my friend, but frustrated that she was sent home and died.

Thank you everyone for you wishes.

Strangely, this morning's Ann Landers or Dear Abby was about how women have differnet symptoms for heart attacks, and rarely feel pain. They may have a tight chest, stomach ache and nausea, and extreme fatigue and anxiety.

Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. You and your friend's family will be in my thoughts & prayers. I want to thank you too for pointing out that we all need to educate ourselves more when it comes to women's heart health issues.
I know that you are still in shock and so heartbroken and upset, but please find the time to take good care of yourself over the next few days.

Dawn, forgot to ask you, did her family ever find out why the hospital sent her home, did she go to the hospital with chest or other pains, I do know that cardiograms don't alway's show that you are having a heart attach, speaking from experiance, cause my Dad when he got chest pains went to the hospital and the cardiogram didn't show anything till the next day that he had a H.A.

Dawn: I am so sorry to hear about your friend, I had a simular situation with a friend, who was not overweight, owned her own business and jogged everday and ate healthy, she went for a complete physical her cardiogram and B.P were fine, She always called her daughter when she woke up, one morning there was no call, daughter tried to reach her and no answer, she went over there and the rest is history, she called the Dr. and all he could say she had is what is known in women is called a SILENT HEART ATTACH and at that time they never knew what caused it.
(not even sure if they know now)

Dawn, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. What a horrible and frustrating thing for her to have taken the action of going to the hospital only to be sent home. I know I would be very angry over that if it was my friend.

Thank you for coming to tell us and also to remind us how very fleeting life is and how we must all take responsibility for our health.

Hey. Thank you for saying that, you really didn't have to.

Would you like me to pick some dinner tonight and bring it over? I have NO problem doing that, I just need to know what you all would like.

Send me an email.

All my love,
Steph

Thanks Steph! When I said one of the two, you're the other one. I have Alek all to myself the next 3 nights, because Cary is in a training seminar again...
