End of the school year stuff...it always flies from here on out. So much to teach...so little time...and 1/2 the kids appear to be on their own agenda already When summer comes I want to... -take a course in August that Bill Gates is offering to all Washington State teachers for FREE!!!! -Redo our bedroom -Get back into a regular exercise routine -Go to the lake and pool -Go on a mini vacation with or without DH! -Have some barbecues at our house -relax
Kat
Goal: Exercise at least 3 times per week.
Remember the positives.

How cool and how exciting! Are you willing to divulge what your book is going to be about? Is there a theme (like small towns or history of the country) or is this a travelogue? When I drive to visit my best friends in Delaware, I take these little country roads about half the way there and I'm always thinking "I wonder what is down that road? One day, I will take a vacation, go down all these little roads, visit all these little towns, and then write an article about it and try to sell it to a magazine." But I haven't done it yet!

What's keeping me running right now is building the new house. I'm on site once/day plus running back and forth to the builder's office. Throw in vacating my current house for showings and work (which continues to get busier) we are barely home anymore. That doesn't even touch all of dd's stuff and she's gearing up for her dance recital and the end of the school year. I'm really looking forward to school ending and cutting back on my hours at the gym to 2 days/week. I'm sure that summer will be busy enough with house stuff and moving that I don't want to add any more stress but doing extra things.

Two jobs, a house, a husband, and a canine son. And school in the fall. As long as I stay organized I'll do just fine. I have to say, my DH is being surprisingly helpful. I think it might have something to do with the comment I made to him several weeks ago that I can't do this and succeed without his help. While I don't want to sell him short, I really was not expecting to have the effort from him that I've been getting. And I've had to just do what I can and let the rest go. No self beatings, no "could have, should have, would haves".

I have to be very careful or I will end up having no down time-and I really treasure time for me. I have a gazillion ideas in my head, things I really want to do and if I don't control myself I will end up trying to do everything and not have time to really enjoy what it is that I am doing. There are some classes I want to take, I am still thinking about joining a gym, want to take rowing classes this summer, work in my yard, paint some rooms in my house...and the list goes on. I try to decide what I most want to do-I'd rather give my all to that one thing rather than spread myself too thin doing a bunch of stuff. I am very lucky to be able to work from home, so I can prep for dinner, do some housework, laundry and schedule appts during the day. When I worked outside the house in an office my life was much crazier. I also limit my dd with her activities. She takes two dance classes right now. Next year she will be starting private violin lessons as well. I want her to have down time as well. I know at her dance studio there are kids who have classes five nights a week and they also are involved in sports and other activites. The parents complain about being there so often and all they do is run kids from activity to activity. Some may view me as selfish for keeping my dd's activities to a minimum but I want to spend time with her, at home, or doing things together-I don't want to be her chauffer service. I don't mean to offend any of you who have kids that are very involved in their activities-this is just how I do things here and it keeps our household stress level low. I have just chosen not to be constantly on the go...I love nights when dd and I can stay home together...cook dinner together, eat dinner together, play a game, put our pj's on early and watch a movie...my kind of night! Jill
Summer Challenge Goals: 1) Walk 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week 2) Plan weekly menus

I'm trying to unbusy a bit. I decided a few weeks ago to not enter a writing contest and I may not take a course this Fall (since I won't graduate until next year anyway, might as well wait until next year). We just got a boat and will be picking up our RV tomorrow. I am planning a trip across country for August for a book I want to write and have started my summer credit course which will help me there too. I'm trying to get more focused. Figure out just what one or two things I really want to do. I generally try to do too much and then end up dropping stuff. I'm trying, when I see something exciting and gravitate toward it, unusally unrelated to whatever I'm truly working on and care about :-) to drag myself back to my priorities.
