For Lynne, Jill and anyone else interested:

Looks like it's finally over, ladies. As I think you know, I am on a Starting Over board on SparkPeople and, as the reruns ended last week and most markets started showing infomercials in its place, some of the ladies on the SO SP board went into hyperdrive trying to find answers on the net.

Now we all know we've seen/heard RUMORS of SO's demise on the fan boards for months. And I still haven't seen an official statement from Bunim-Murray, but what one of my SP buddies found was a blog entry on Rhonda's website that indicates they did not renew her contract and she SAYS (though I get the clear impression this is her opinion and not an official company line) that this means Starting Over is not returning this fall.

She was rather critical of Bunim-Murray (not by name) for mismanagement of this decision, saying that not only did the FANS not know about SO's future but she, one of the life coaches, wasn't even told outright. They just didn't renew her contract by the deadline.

Now I suppose this could mean SO is going on without Rhonda. But it could also mean what she thinks it means--that SO isn't going on at all.

Just wanted to let you know what I know.
Sheri

Peg, Rhonda mentioned in this blog entry I saw that she's back to doing phone coaching herself now that she has the free time. She was saying how difficult it is after doing face-to-face coaching for so long. I'm sure that her fee is heftier than one of her minions, but just thought I'd mention it.

I was given Rhonda's Fearless Loving book a couple of years ago and studiously ignored it on my dresser top all this time. A few weeks ago I was in a better place about not having a relationship and feeling like maybe I could 'do' something so I picked up the book. It is really quite good. I have yet to get myself to actually follow through and do the exercises. Major, classic avoidance to the nth degree. Anyway, she has a whole fleet of coaches that have been trained in her techniques. They also host group sessions (most by phone). I am seriously considering signing up for some coaching either by her coaches or Debbie Ford's coaches. I know if I was paying someone x dollars an hour, I'd probably do my $%#^ homework. Smiler

Anyone here done any personal coaching who is willing to share their thoughts and experiences?

I'm sorry the show is gone Sheri. I know it was really a great way for you to receive this information. I hope you can find another mechanism for yourself!

Peg

P.S. for people who haven't seen Starting Over:

You know I'm a TV buff and a reality TV addict, but Starting Over is different. I would be bummed to hear that they weren't going to do any more seasons of Survivor, for example, but it wouldn't impact me personally. Knowing that Starting Over isn't coming back impacts me very personally.

Sure, Starting Over wasn't perfect. It had it's cheesy moments and it's sensationalistic edge like other reality TV, but I was willing to forgive those things because there was value added with the entertainment.

Watching an episode of Survivor or Big Brother doesn't add any value to my life other than entertaining me for an hour. Starting Over actually changed the way I thought about myself and what my issues were and what needed to be done about them. It gave me ideas and tools for being a better person.

As I've said many times, watching Starting Over was like free therapy.
