I just found out that we will get the keys to our new house today or tomorrow and can start moving things over this week-end. Then we'll get movers to move furniture next Tuesday.
I'm really excited and somewhat overwelmed as we have not moved in 11 years. I feel just a little sad leaving this house as ds was a toddler here - but I am SOOO happy to be leaving our neighbors whose house is next to our bedroom window!
I know that Sat and Sun are going to fast food for lunch and dinner. Planning on sticking to the veggie burgers at McD's or Burger King and the salads. Not too stressed about a controlled fall of the wagon as I know that I can get back on in a week.
Want to get exercise done in am as I think that it will help with the stress...
MIL is coming Monday for 3 days. She will be a big help and a source of stress.
I'm sure the computer will be unplugged Sat or Sun and I'm not sure when it will be up and running again. I've got to contact cable company.
Wish us luck! Any suggestions are welcome. For 10 years, I used to move every 6 months. I'm rusty!

How exciting! We've been in our new home for a month now and I don't miss the old house at all. One thing that helped me, was that I didn't go back for the last load. I stayed in the new house and started unpacking boxes instead. I believe that really helped me. I thought for sure I would be beside myself with grief, but I haven't felt that way for 1 moment. Remember, its just a place to live. People live in houses, caves, mud huts, hotel rooms, with their parents, and even on boats. Make the most of your new home and don't look back.

Congratulations on your new home!! Blessings to you and your family. Try to get plenty of sleep and take care of yourself.."and remember to lift with your knees dear!" We will miss you here for the next few days but look foward to hearing about your new home. Hey....at least you will have a refrigerator!! LOL Best wishes. ske
We're still unpacking here (moved in June 7), but it's been worth it.
The few pointers I can offer are:
1. unpack the kitchen first, but not before you come up with a plan for where to put what.
2. Moving is exercise, if you carry your own boxes.
3. The best places for "healthy" fast food are local delis and Subway. I needed to stay away from places that served french fries, since stress erodes my willpower, and I couldn't trust myself to not order the fries.
4. Do something really soon to mark the houe as your territory, like hanging your photos on the wall.
5. The Flylady zone system worked really well helping me unpack. I tackled one zone a week after unpacking hte critical items.
and finally
6. If you throw it out now, you won't have to move it. Only move the things you really love and use.
Hope the internet connection goes quickly for you. It took almost a month to get our DSL connection. Cable should be faster, since it doesn't involve slow-paced Verizon.

Good luck and congratulations! Sounds like you have a good plan together. My suggestion is to pack a box of things to take and unpack immediately. This is the box that is always on my front seat with me when I first arrive and I just get this stuff in the house right away. I'll start the list until my brain freezes but others feel free to jump in and add on:
enough rolls of tp for each bathroom a towel and soap for each bathroom hand lotion dishsoap dishrag or sponge towel something to drink out of (either paper or some of your regular cups/glasses) paper towels rags a phone and phonebook water (and I would want ice but I'm funny about warm water) snacks a radio or boombox general cleaning supplies (cleaners, dust rag/duster, mop, vacuum) Basic tools or toolbox
This stuff makes it much more comfortable and productive right away.
This is exciting, Denise. Try to enjoy and take it one step (box) at a time as you are not in a big rush. Sounds like the food will be ok-- you'll get back on your normal track after the initial move.
Sandy, I thought of you today. I made a boca burger sandwich for lunch. I was kind of overwhelmed and sat down and started to eat it in 3 huge bites. I thought of you, and ate it slowly in little bites. Thanks!
Thanks, Bee - It will all get done.

Good luck with the move!!! You are very lucky to have extra time to move things in gradually. Take your time and don't stress too much. Everything will get done!
