I was shopping today and I had a huge ego boost at Express. I had counted them out after changing their jeans to low rise or super low rise. But I tried on some dress pants and I fit into a single digit size - an 8. I couldn't believe it. I'm a 12 anywhere else and still have plenty of 14s that fit. Here's the scoop.
The Correspondent pant has 2 extra inches in the hip/thigh area than the Editor, and has a slightly higher waist. So you can usually wear a smaller size in the Correspondent. Also, the regular length is cut bigger than the short.
These how they fit me: Editor 12 short - good in thighs, big in waist Editor 12 regular - big everywhere, too long Editor 10 short - snug in thighs, fine in waist, too short (I'm 5'5") Correspondent 10 short - fit nice, but slightly too short Correspondent 10 regular - good in thighs, big in waist Correspondent 8 regular - slightly snug in thighs, fine in waist

Somehow I didn't think it would be.
The Gap is mostly basics now although there are some trendy things there. I'm 33, and I still like to have fun with clothes!

THanks Jen, doesn't sound like my kind of store at all! I don't "do" skimpy!!!! I dress very conservatively, and just don't do skimpy! I know we have a couple of Structure stores in Fresno, so there probably is an Express, I've just never seen it....not that I go into the mall more than every 5-6 years
What's funny, is the last time I was in Gap, those clothes were a lot too trendy for me, so if you've "Graduated" to the Gap, it's probably not for me. Now having said that, it's been 10+ years since I was in the Gap. (Yes, I was 25 and the clothes were too trendy for me )....

P.S. You probably can't use the gift cert. at most of those other stores, but there is an Express for men, so you could always use it to buy a gift for a man in your life. The Express for men stuff is great, though a little pricey. Men's clothes are never as trend-oriented as juniors' are.

Dawn, like I said, I haven't found much there myself. You could always use the gift certificate for underwear, jewelry, or other accessories. They sell socks and tights and purses and stuff too. A lot of their clothes are just too skimpy for me to feel comfortable. But their dress pants aren't bad.

Express, Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Lerner New York, Lane Bryant, The Limited, & Express for Men/Structure are all owned by the same company. You might want to see if you can redeem the gift certificate at one of the other stores
(Lerner always seems to have super-comfy summer clothes & pretty cute swimsuits. . .plus Bath & Body Works should be having a clearance sale in July, where all the stuff is pulled out of the back room and sold for lots, lots less)
Edit: If you can fit into an 8 at Express, give Lerner a go. . .even when no one else's 14s and 16s fit me, Lerner's did. . . D

That makes me feel old. I shop mostly at Ann Taylor and Petite Sophisticate (the petite version of Casual Corner). I can't ever find anything I like in Express. I have a gift certificate and can't even spend it. I bought one sweater last year, and haven't seen anything else since.

wahhhh!!!!! WE don't have Express here, at least I don't think we do, I've never heard of them before..... I so badly want to wear a size 8 again that I'd even spend more money to buy a pair of pants that is built bigger to get into a size 8

Way to go! I'm looking forward to single digits again. Goodbye 12's. Just hang those new pants somewhere you will see them many times in a day as a reminder of your determination and success! I will look forward to doing that with my 8's in the future! Blessings!
