Gratitude can go a long ways towards allowing us the positive energy to keep working towards our goals and dreams. I would love to hear what you are grateful for today! No need for it to necessarily be in the healthy lifestyle vein. Any old gratitude will do.
Today, I am especially grateful to April, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program coordinator...when a new organization came to Delaware, she immediately thought of me because she thought it a good fit to my skill set. I accepted, because I agreed. And, on Tuesday, my first article will appear in the Coming of Age Delaware newsletter and, I believe, on their website. I'm SO excited!
Sheri,
Congratulations! I know how this feels and it is exciting.
There are a LOT of places to get published - and many for pay - if you are interested.

Sheri,
I just had a chance to read about your new writing gig! How cool!

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

Wow, Sheri, that is so exciting. I know writing was part of what you wanted to do in retirement so I'm thrilled to hear this! Congratulations!
For many months now, I have made gratitude a part of my bedtime ritual. After light's out, but before I go to sleep, I thank God/the Universe for all the people with whom I interacted that day, for my sweet puppy, my family, my friends and my neighbors. I really find that it helps substantially in keeping a positive mental outlook (though, now that I'm retired, I have much less to be stressed about).
I am currently reading the most recent (I think) issue of Body & Soul magazine and was reading an article last night about how staying positive has been proven to have benefits to your health, and they listed gratitude as part of staying positive.
For the almost 2 years since I originally read The Secret, I have attempted to find something positive in every day, even when it wasn't a very good day. I really do believe we can train our brains to lean toward the positive, and doing these exercises--finding the positive and giving thanks with gratitude--helps my brain stay in a positive vein.

jill, dd's ceiling fan just stopped working one day. we got a handyman to come out and fix it for $30 (thank God!) he had a friend who was an electrician who talked him thru all the troubleshooting. it turned out, the fan was an older model with a remote control. the remote stopped "talking" to the main unit, and vice versa. the handyman just disconnected the communication between the two, and the ceiling fan started working again. i would not assume it is a major electrical problem. it will work out dear friend.
Goals: 1. Enjoy life! 2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention. 3. One word 2010: faith

I am trying to continue to be thankful today in spite of not only my car being broken but now an electrical problem with a ceiling fan and worrying about it being a fire hazard and can't get an electrician on the phone to save my life. I keep telling myself to relax, and it will all work out and am reminding myself to be grateful for the life I have, that this is temporary, and to not start being all negative and depressed.

Timely post! Just this morning I was thinking (and thanking God) for all that I am grateful for. So many mornings I get up and think how much I hate my job and begin my day feeling so negative so this morning I decided to be different. It sure has helped.
I also read a post on a Sparkpeople thread from a woman who had a big realization about her weight loss journey. She realized that instead of constantly worrying about the future in terms of being able to keep up her successes, she can do this "one day at a time". Just focus on the day at hand and worry about the rest as it comes. This really gave me a boost and something to think about.
Petty-but true-I am soooo grateful that it is almost Friday!!!!
