It's National Heart Month. What are you doing to protect and keep your heart beating? Seems like a silly question for here, but then again not.
Women's signs of a heart attack are very different than a man's, do you know what they are? Do you know how to do self-CPR if you have to? Do you know what to do if someone else is having a heart attack? Are you trained in CPR? Do you know your blood type?
Very easy questions, but very scary when we realize how many people can't answer them at all.

Second part of the homework:
What are you doing for Valentine's Day? Are you going to eat that chocolate candy you get? Are you going to give candy to a loved one? Chocolate is good for you, and we can have it, moderation in everything. But to me it's like the GS cookies and the Halloween candy, one is not enough. What could you give YOURSELF for Valentine's that would be a sign of loving yourself and remind you of just how important you are to a lot of people?
It's never too late to get it right.

That is the only question I do have an answer for. A+ (I have heard the nurse say it many many times as I was being preped for transfusions over the last few years).

Since dd and I are both single and have no boyfriends V-day is no big deal for us. A card maybe but that is usually it.

Thankfully, really low bad cholesterol (and high "good" cholesterol) runs in my mom's family...a good genetic inheritance So my cholesterol levels are consistently good. And after this past year of tests and stuff, I do indeed know my blood type.
I walk 30 minutes every work day (I have to, if I want to get to work), and use olive oil almost exclusively (and now Enova, if I remember to reach for it). We eat as close to whole as we can, and I make sure we have at least one grain or high-fiber item every day. Vegetables with lunch are a must; at least one piece of fruit in both our lunchboxes.
I know CPR, though my training has run out. I hope to never, ever have to use it again, though, I admit.
For Valentine's Day, I got him M&Ms...but wait! They're personalized, so they aren't really for eating so much as Awwwww-how-cute-ing.
Challenge Goals: *10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week *Gym time twice a week *Socialize at least once every two weeks.
I am trying to be very careful about eating whole grains, watching fat, regular cardio exercise, etc. My dad died in 1985 due to a heart issue, and this year I turn the same age as my dad was when he died.
Needless to day, I'm doing everything I can to make sure I'm in good heart shape. I'm pretty nervous about this birthday.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
Friday, dh and I are going out to dinner to celebrate v-day (also the anniversary of when we became engaged) but it will be for sushi.
DH and I were engaged tomorrow, right before v-day. It is also the anniversary of our first date.
I think I'm going to get a computer game for DS that he has been requesting. (Zoo something. I think they have to plan and run a zoo. Right now, DS says he wants to be a zoo keeper when he grows up.)
I'm not sure if DH and I are going to do anything. Last night when we were watching TV there was a Zales commercial or something and he said "Are we doing anything for Valentine's Day?" AH.....so romantic.

I'm good on the personal front too - healthy weight for almost 4 years now (my anniversary will be in April), exercising regularly and my CPR and first aid certifications are current (have to be for work).
As for Valentine's Day - it's a multi-day experience for us ; ) DD LOVES v-day and we traditionally make a big deal of it for her. V-day morning, we'll start out with home made multi-grain heart shaped pancakes and a little gift for dd (all from the $1 section at Target - a little bucket with a heart necklace, heart pen, heart hand towel and stickers).
I'm going out to lunch with a friend that day at our healthy restaurant and then I have band rehearsal that night but we'll be celebrating later in the week.

Sunday will be our real v-day treat in terms of calories - high tea at the Ritz Carlton altoghether. I endulge and enjoy every bite as it's totally worth it : )
