I'm playing at a fund raiser for a baby who had a bone marrow transplant about a year ago. The baby is two and a half now and is doing fine. The donor has flown in and will be there. It will be really hard to play and cry (happy crying!) at the same time. Smiler

I think it might be a Baby Luau. (Band dress is Aloha Shirts this time…) There is a big celebration in Hawaii when a baby turns one, in part because in the past, so few babies made it to their first birthday. I know that the family has not had any birthday parties, because it was so touch and go and the baby was given last rites twice… but is doing really well now. (I’ve heard that the baby is VERY bright and that she is spoiled Confused… but I don’t think that it is possible to spoil somebody so young… maybe in a year or two… Smiler)

As for food this weekend - there will be a catered buffet tomorrow, and the band has been invited to partake. (“Will play for food…”) My family wants to go out to eat tonight… And shoot, I already have started the weekend early… bought 3 mini cinnamon cheesecake muffins and intended on eating one… but they were so little and cute and tasty… I ate all three Roll Eyes.

Sooooooo, my plan is:

1. To get a chicken breast sandwich tonight. I usually only eat half… so I’ll save the other half for lunch tomorrow since I want to be pretty full about 1:30ish. This way, I’ll have a sandwich all made and in a to-go box Wink.

1a) Also, MUST remember to sub a salad for fries tonight. I’ve been conveniently “forgetting” and although I only eat about 1/3 of the fry order - or about 15 fries… it is still more than a side salad with dressing on the side.

2. Skip dessert tonight. My family ALWAYS has dessert on Friday nights… but I’m really sure that there will be dessert on the buffet tomorrow. It should be easy to pass up dessert tonight as it will be a brownie sundae and I’ve only eaten about one a weekend for the past 5 years… I think I can miss a week!

3. Get up early and go to the Y at 7am tomorrow.

4. I really can’t see myself over doing it at the buffet, especially since it is a fundraiser and I am a “guest” of sorts… It would be very out of character for me to over do it... BUT it would be very much in character for me to stop for fast food and pig out on the way home... Roll Eyes

5. I’ve got pesto in the freezer and it will be really easy to boil some pasta and have dinner when I get home tomorrow night or if I am absolutely starving... I'll get a McDonalds Salad.

6. And the rest of the meals at home on Sunday should be a no brainer!

Thanks for letting me think out loud and anally figure out my weekend! - Anybody else?

Thanks, Denise. It was! Even though we finished third (out of seven, so not too shabby), we were neck-and-neck with the second place boat through the whole course. A close race is quite exhilarating and we are proud of ourselves for "taking the bronze." And the crowd loved it!

I also kept to my eating plan. Lots and lots of hydration, small meals, light exercise. Tomorrow, back to more strenuous workouts and my weekday eating plans.

But for now, a little R&R...

I had a GREAT day yesterday. This was a wonderful performance to do!

The mom got up and spoke for a few minutes and there is a brother who looks like he is about 8 and he said a few sentences. The baby is soooooo cute... typical little 2-3 year old ham. She is VERY verbal and was screaming, "I want to talk!!!! I want to talk!!!" (Baby missed her nap.) Mom said, "If we give her the mic, she'll never stop talking..." But the baby did sing one song.

So, then we went out in the parking lot and warmed up and got ourselves together and stopped crying... and played for a couple of hours.

It was a good food and exercise day. I made it to the Y and exercised and then I walked over to Thrift Town and got a Hawaiian shirt and got 10,000 steps in before noon. Had oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, cereal and fruit for a snack, half a Togos sandwich for lunch, 1 piece of chocolate cake at the party (and about 5 tortilla chips and salsa - which the caterer brought around... I know that it is hospitality... but it really bothers me when I'm doing really well and somebody brings the calories to me...) And then I had a McDonald's California Cobb salad for dinner. Almost had coffee ice cream... but I had a pint of strawberries instead. Ds doesn't like coffee ice cream... and set a good example for me first. Smiler

I did think that it was interesting... When the mom (who was VERY articulate) was talking… she spoke of a time when the baby was sooooo sick and the mom sat and talked to her and said that it was ok for her to let go and she understood, but she wanted the baby to hold on and grow up and they could go shopping for books and stop for lattes, and go to Paris and go out for an exquisite lunch and have the best chocolate. I thought that it was very interesting that the mom asked the baby to hold on and they could experience a bunch of different things that all included food. (The mom looked like she was about 35 and wasn’t overweight at all.) But it did strike me to hear… “I want us to be able to drink lattes together and Godiva chocolate and _____ and _____.” Got to say, carrot sticks and nonfat yogurt dip weren’t on the list… but if was also obvious that the mom didn’t eat Godiva for breakfast lunch and dinner every day. Food and culture and experiences and relationships are so intertwined… and everything in moderation.

Plans are changing...

Restaurant was VERY crowded and it was stressful and I forgot to order salad (really I did forget! Smiler) So I ended up eating about a dozen small fries.

Jamie was starving and ate all of his dinner, part of Nelson's dinner, all of my fries (-12) and ate most of my half of sandwich I was saving for lunch. Since he is 5'5" and about 103 lbs... I didn't have the heart to say, "Get your mitts off my lunch." He'll probably sleep until noon and wake up an inch taller. Looked like growth spurt eating to me.

Jamie left about 4 bites of sandwich on my plate. It wasn't enough for lunch, and I was tempted to eat them (even though I wasn't hungry) and I didn't... so I'm pleased about that.

dh wanted dessert but Jamie and I vetoed... as we were both full.

So now I just have to figure out lunch... I'm thinking half a Togos sandwich for lunch and half for dinner... Smiler

Y doesn't open until 8am this am... found out when I walked over at 7am... got most of the fries walked off already!

Hmmm...last weekend was so busy with the 4th and the festival in town that we have planned absolutely nothing for this weekend. Nothing!

However, I think that we will go swimming tonight, hit the farmers market tomorrow morning and maybe stop by and visit my brother at his garage sale. I'm sure that eating out will be involved - I will try to make wise choices and make sure to get some exercise in.

90 day goal: 4 days of cardio, 3 days of strength training each week.

Going to be an eventful weekend, with two all-day events. Tomorrow we're going to a Giants game (finally getting to the ballpark this summer!) We'll probably pack our lunch and snacks, but it's always hard to say no to the Ben & Jerry's guy who comes through the stands...

I will have to be strong, though, because on Sunday, I'm competing in the US Rowing Southwest Regional Championship Regatta. I'll be at the race course bright and early to help get boats off the trailer, even though my first race isn't until 1 p.m. (that's Pacific time, if you want to send positive, encouraging, winning thoughts my way; I'll take all the help I can get! Smiler) Then the last race is around 5, with boat loading to follow.

Race weekends are always interesting because I'm supposed to "taper off" my workouts to rest up and eat right to fuel my body. But I find it hard not to be active, especially when I'm nervous or antsy about something.

My plan is:
Bring my own food to the ballpark.
Long, slow walks on Saturday evening and between races on Sunday.
Lots and lots of water Saturday and Sunday.
And small meals -- bagel with peanut butter or a Cliff bar -- between races. Definitely don't want to row a 1,000 meter sprint on a full stomach!

We usually eat out on payday Friday night but since we have a Red Hat Lunch tomorrow & dinner at my nephew's on Sunday(first time he has cooked for company) we will probably eat something in tonight.
Sunday morning is always biscuits & gravy at around 11am.

We are eating in this weekend and have no parties. I am glad. We will likely go to the pool onceor twice, but I generally bring food or eat before and after. With my weight loss goal in mind, this weekend is a good thing.

Thanks for doing this. It allows my mind to do a little planning out.

Tonight and this weekend my in laws will be here. I am making us all dinner tonight, so I am happy about what I am eating and serving.

Tomorrow I will be most likely on my own. My in laws will be visiting with friends, dh will be out with his friend, so I am going to be in charge of ME. Smiler

Sunday most likely we will go out for breakfast. Since I am still on my egg kick, I will most likely get myself an omelett of some sorts. Smiler

I plan on working out tomorrow and probaly Sunday too.

Good luck to everyone and have a wonderful weekend.

What a great concert to be playing in! I hope you have a great turnout for it.

Also sounds like you have a great plan for the weekend.

As for us, dh and I are going away for a romantic overnight tomorrow. I'm planning on going for a long run tomorrow morning, lifting and then teaching a step/toning class to counteract any extra calories at dinner.

Breakfast and lunch will be on plan Saturday. Sunday's breakfast and lunch will be out so I'll make the best choices possible. We'll be home on Sunday night and back to basics.
