I am very excited about this, seeing as though I spent my summer gaining weight because of a diabetic med. Merck has come out, and now gotten FDA approval for Januvia, a diabetic medication that enhances the body's ability to lower blook sugars, BUT doesn't cause weight gain. I am so excited. The only drawback right now, is that it is about 6 times more expensive that other meds. That could be a problem. But where one company can make it, others will soon follow, and maybe make it more affordable for those of us who experience weight gain with other meds.
This is now progress.

AND I am hoping it works as well as they say it does. First Januvia has to lower those blood sugar numbers and THEN it has to prove that it's not going to make you gain weight. Big expectations.
I am still wondering why when weight control and exercise are the Prime things diabetics are to do to control blood sugars, they can't come up with meds that don't cause a weight gain. Guess some big starlet has to get diabetes and die before that will happen. SAD

CobisMom: Have you heard of Byretta. Evidently it helps moderate the hunger response in diabetics. They are also looking at using it for PCOS patients (who have Insulin Resistance).
