I have been thinking about the challenge and I thought before we began that we would all discuss what our short and long term goals are. For me I have to have that sort of accountability to myself.

Short term:
Try to do weekly meal planning
Drink more water
Journal when I am feeling I am out of control with food
Look into vitamins
Get a new workout routine with cardio at the gym

Long term:
Shop and have meals based on seasonal items
Give myself a break maybe once or even twice a week with cooking (pass it off to DH)
Find more people to workout with to spice things up
Possible a race in the fall

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is." Albert Einstein

Daily to do: Drink plenty of water & take vitamins

It is Stage 1, caught very early. She is having surgery again on 7/5 to remove additional tissue and lymph nodes for biopsy. http://www.linkslondonsale.com/charms.html We saw the radiologist and surgeon yesterday and both are extremely optimistic that the cancer has not spread. She is having radiation starting some time after her surgery. The doctors have given her an excellent prognosis but it is still very worrisome and scary. If you could keep my mom in your prayers I would so appreciate it. http://www.edhardykleidungverkaufen.com/

I have had a chronic after-dinner-snacking issue also. i am much better now, just brushing my teeth and stopping and talking to myself about it. i do find--if i am sleep deprived--the urge for chocolate is off the charts! my hunger signals are not working. sleep is so vital for my health.

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.
3. One word 2010: faith

I too need my sleep and love it. When I can't sleep I drink Yogi Tea-Bedtime tea. I use 2 teabags to one cup of water. It has sort of a licorice flavor to it but it is all herbal and much better than a sleeping pill.

My challenge is eating after dinner and before bed. This was never a problem for me but has started to become a bad habit. My goal is to either not eat after dinner or eat only a piece of fresh fruit or something small and healthy. I've been under a great deal of stress the last few weeks and normally I am not a stress eater but I seem to be becoming one : (

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

lately, my challenge has been getting enough sleep. i don't know if it is the heavy workload i have right now, or WHAT--but i am in a pattern of poor sleep and it is torture. i love to sleep!

when you are tossing and turning--what do you do? sometimes, i honestly consider getting up and going to the gym--wearing myself down enough to sleep. then again, my body is already tired. my sleep problems must stem from something else.

i am very grateful for good sleep last night. however, each night seems to be a toss-up: am i going to sleep well or not? I have no idea anymore.

i will give it a try--brushing and flossing! what happens is that i eat about 5pm. but then i am up and running--packing lunches, cleaning up, and at the same time, helping with kids' homework (and grabbing a handful of this and that while i am running & multitasking)when i am done with all of this, like 7:30pm, then i go to my bedroom and brush and floss and change to pajamas and put out my workout clothes for the morning. but perhaps i can run to the room and brush before i start with the homework and kitchen things. it is worth a try because monday--i was munching again!

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.

Iz,

How about a planned evening snack and then brushing your teeth? Dh has started doing that fairly early in the evening as a sign to himself that the kitchen is now closed Smiler I do that too sometimes; brushing, flossing and gargling is something I only want to have to do once per evening.

Iz,
What time do you normally eat dinner and what time do you go to bed?
I have never been an after dinner muncher. The thought never even occurs to me unless I eat something unsatisfying or too light for dinner.
BUT, I usually eat dinner between 7:30 and 8:30, and I go to bed around midnight. There just isn't time in there to get hungry.
If you are eating dinner at 5:30 or 6 and going to bed around midnight, then I would definitely be hungry again. Maybe you could have a planned snack?

Also, are there other people around you munching? My S.O. will occasionally eat chips or something after dinner. This makes me think that I want some, when I am not actually hungry. Perhaps if your other family members are late night snackers, you could have them eat their snacks in their respective rooms rather than in the communal room...

Brushing my teeth helps me.

ok, what has worked for people in stopping the after dinner munchies?

i have to say, to give myself some credit, i stay pretty busy. but i can grab (munch) and keep going, so that does not totally stop me. i have stopped eating while on the computer, and eating while watching TV.

Short term:

1. Add weight training back into my workout routine

2. No dessert or wine until my Vegas trip

3. Stay off the scale when on plan but weigh in when off plan. (I have been noticing that if my weight is down I have less of an incentive to stay on plan. The 'oh, I can have one glass of wine without it making a difference' talk starts going through my head.
