What's in your Easter Belly? Mine has dark chocolate eggs. They were high in omega threes, rich in antioxidants and the Easter Bunny made me eat them.
NOW I have to jog, bike, lift, holler and walk them all off. Every single decadent dark chocolate egg. All too many of them.
Was it worth it? hmmm yep. and nope. but mostly yep. I'm not sure if I want a life without dark chocolate Easter eggs. I'll contemplate it at the gym this week
Mostly nuts, after a broiled fish, baked potato, salad & broccoli dinner. A little bit of butter pecan easter egg.
The egg was absolutely worth the calories. The only thing other than a sweet-ed out feeling I was stuck left with was about 1 lb. of water weight from the nuts, which is gone plus some as of today.
And I did deliberately schedule a registered dietician appointment for Monday. I do that for all holidays. Keeps me out of trouble that way.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
well-- neither ds or i can have much chocolate... and when my mom was preparing the ham for Easter she said "All i have to do is pour the ginger ale on it and heat it up.." hmmmm... i didn't have any. I wrote the rest of the menu....roasted potatos and green beans. For dessert she had cheesecake (which I can't eat) w/ fresh berries..which I can.
now I'm not all that innocent....My secret treat is Lays chips....that's the major thing in my belly....and it is NOT worth it! I need to gain control.
I have kept my calories in range--- with spring coming I want to keep clean and keep my weight on track.
I will say that my food choices the few days around Easter were not great-- my calories were in line, but 300-400 calories worth of chocolate does not leave room for as many other high quality calories.
Today I was back on track -- 3 servings of fruit and 2 servings of veggies.
I started feeling very tired and lethargic after eating crappy food. I am actually happy to be back to better foods.
Tomorrow I will get in 3 fruit and 3 veggie servings.
Let's see, I had a Mexican omelet for breakfast - with salsa and w pieces of whole wheat toast.
For supper we had phony-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and peas.
No wine, no chocolate.
But, we just came back from Kroger's where bunches of sstuff was marked down. I got a couple of bags of Hershey's dark chocolate eggs reasoning that I could eat one or two and be satisfied. They're kiss sized.
The Dove box wasn't marked down enough to tempt me.
I also got a turkey tenderloin marked down. Guess what we're having for supper tonight.
My big worry is the number of my teacher friends that I am breakfasting or lunching with this week. I'm sure I can make a wise choice and then be so busy visiting I won't even notice the food.
My Easter belly is stuffed with chocolate mints (I finally got to the bottom of the box, yay!), red wines, chicken, lamb, cheeses and biscuits, and a token dash of green salad to make me feel more virtuous.
What do I have to say for myself, apart from a slightly self-conscious burp? Umm... The food was quality food, it was good, and there was enough of it. Was it worth it? Most of it was. The holidays are over, anyway.
****************** “The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.”
Isn't it great that some of the foods that are so filled with calories, are also filled with wonderful things that can protect our lives. Now that's a double edged sword.
My Easter tummy, unfortunately, or not, was filled with "proper portions of good food"....no bunnies, eggs, beans or peeps here. But then I had stupidly scheduled a glucose test for Monday AM....ah well.
It's never too late to get it right.

Not one but TWO large gourmet chocolate chip cookies. First one was most definitely worth it. Not so sure about the second, which I ate a few hours later.
