Cobismom, Have you thought about rewards for yourself along the way? What might you like as a reward for sticking with the swim schedule over they next 2 weeks? Sandy
April l, I want to be cemented back into swimming...well, not so that I would sink, but so that this schedule is non-negotiable again. I have let other things get in the way of this event, and that just can't and won't happen anylonger.
Food-wise, I need to get out of a rut. So we'll be eating new and different meals. Peanut butter and Jelly for those who don't care for the menu of the night.
My attitude about getting healthy MUST change, I need to focus on the joy of getting there, not just the pain of getting there. I need to give myself surprises along the way, and enjoy what benefits I have already gotten.

It's never too late to get it right.

My goal for March is to clean up my food. I have improved in this area, but want to take the next step which means:
No bites from Sophia's plate.
Eating all of my planned meals and snacks- no skipping them to make room for whatever strikes my fancy.
To get my fruit in rather than to skip- My goal is to have whole fruit 3 times per week (I am at 1-2 times per week now) rather then juice or a cookie.
I will read this each day that I log on as a reminder of my committment to myself.
Reward: For each day that I do this I will buy myself whatever fresh fruit I like. My favorites are fresh raspberries, blackberries and crunchy grapes. Sandy
After spending a couple of days with my personal trainer, I'm pumped to start my new weight training program. I clearly wasn't pushing myself hard enough before and I have a renewed focus (and energy) to really feel the burn after each set ; ) I can't wait until my next lifting session on Saturday!
Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
My goals for March: to stop watching the clock in spin class and to spend my time in class working to my true potential.
When I get tired, I watch the clock and pray for class to be over. I will the teacher to let us out early. When the teacher says, turn up the resistance, I pretend and don't really.
You don't get gold stars for unproductive thinking. And you don't get any closer to reaching your goals when you spend your time talking yourself out of exercise or willing it to be over.
Think of how many more calories I would burn if I spent the hour challenging myself. "I'm going to put in my best performance today. I'm going to increase the resistance on my bike and keep up the pace. I'm going to ride so well people will think I train Lance Armstrong!"
Where I'm at March 11th - I've been making a HUGE effort to stay focused when I'm in class or just working out. It's not easy but I can really see a difference. I find that if I tune out negative internal dialogue and instead focus on what I'm doing, I get more out of the exercise.
I'm teaching myself how to tune out and turn off Let's-quit-and-go-home the minute she starts trying to take over my brain.
Common sense, I know! But easier said then done. Coasting through workouts can be fun! Reading magazines, watching the Today show la la la. But if you have time to read and watch tv - what are you getting DONE, kd!
