Hi everyone. I've been out of town... and did not have access to a computer. I didn't eat as well as I should have while gone... but.... I kept so active I my weight stayed the same. It has been a struggle to get on track but I am working hard at that. I plan to get more fruits and veggies on the menu, and get to the pool at least 3 times a week. I am also trying to take the stairs at work instead of the elevator. Will let you know how that goes.

Thanks for your support! Smiler

In keeping with my changing goals, I redesigned my weight spreadsheet. Among other things, it now has a column that automatically generates a Yes/No regarding if I am still at/below my target weight.

Hi guys: I am trying to get back in the swing of things. I will walk tomorrow for the first time in about a week. I have been getting in a walk a week at least.
I have just been too sick and exhausted....but for the best reason in the world. On Sunday I will be 4 months pregnant. Smiler I actually lost 3 pounds in a month but due to the morning sickness..not good. I still have it although not every day anymore. Hope that everyone is doing well and I am looking forward to reading and posting again when I can.

Now, all I have to do is maintain my current weight. I continue regularly use a treadmill, and dumbbell weights.

For me, the keys to weight loss have been exercise, cutting bad snack habits, and eating more high-fiber foods. Since I have been eating more cereal, I have been drinking more fat-free milk, and dairy calcium is also supposed to help with weight loss.

Congratulations!!! That's awesome!

I am so impressed with this! You're not bragging at all...it's great to hear both your successes and what you believe worked for you. I think it helps to see it in a couple concise sentences like that! Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Just checkin' in! I have lost 2 more pounds during the past week - this means I have passed a zero in the units column. This also means that the "tens" column has the 3rd number in it since I started on June 1. Yeah!

I continue to watch the eating. Have tried some new stuff - Kohlrabi, raw asparagus, plucot (it's a cross between a plum and an apricot). I've still eaten out, but been VERY mindful of what I'm ordering. I'm also very conscious of getting the fruits and veggies in (is it me or are the strawberries especially delicious this year!).

Still walking for my "main" exercise. That doesn't seem to be getting much better. I know the heat and humidity that we have been experiencing have not helped. I've got to STOP thinking about what I could do before and just do what I can (prior to back surgery, I mean - I hate to keep mentioning that, but feel that I need to, here, as a reference).

Am going to have whole wheat spaghetti tonight for the first time and hope to find a relatively harmless recipe for Mac and Cheese for tomorrow night - if I don't, I'll have something else and let the guys have the box stuff!

Wow- these boards really DO work. I thought I'd try surfing through them , just a little, to keep me from eating a 2nd ( and maybe a third )Reese's . Unbelievable- it worked!!!! Now, I'm committed. My goal: Check these boards tomorrow for some accountability, Especially when I'm bored and want something bad for me. Here we go!

Reward: 30 minutes of no-guilt reading ( who cares about the laundry and dishes-- they will still be there when I get back from my 30 min vacation. I can do it then.)

Ok. Beginning of the month check in. I only wrote down my weight twice during June. I'm exactly the same as I was on June 16. That's both good and bad - good that I haven't gained any more - bad that I haven't lost any...

Goals for next two weeks:

Eat out just once a week.

Make a plan and eat the plan.

Keep waterskiing in August in mind. Smiler

Would like to lose 1-2 lbs in next two weeks and then maintain weight during the week of the move.

This seems very doable. I feel back on track. (During the month of June - I felt like I didn't care if I was on track or not - not a good place to be Smiler)

I've been keepin' my nose in, even if I haven't posted any messages. I was the presenter for my computer club last night, so most of my energies lately have been towards that end.

I was happy to get on the scale this morning - down 14 pounds since June 1. I had a follow-up Dr. appt. today to check my blood pressure. The doctor and nurse were both surprised at the amount I have lost and my blood pressure was down 10 points too which made the Doctor AND me very happy.

I've discovered the joys of Kashi (go lean) in the past few weeks. I found it at Sam's Club. Since I saw it, so often, in lists of people's meals. I thought I would try it. It is great.

Am presently doing a hybrid between Dr. Phil and Weight Watchers. More carbs than Dr. Phil, but less than WW. I'm happy and doing o.k.

The next thing to work on will be getting exercise more often. I've been walking, but not consistently.

I wanted to check in to report another 1 1/2 lb loss in the last week for a grand total of 6 lbs in the last 4 weeks. Pretty good...I feel like it is sort of slow going but I feel better than I have in years, this lifestyle is really getting ingrained for me this time around and I am very happy about the way I'm going about it. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Oh yeah, one more thing...

I got "kicked" from P.T. this morning. I have graduated to being on my own. I can tell that I have made great progress, but am still somewhat nervous about being on my own. I still have trouble standing still (like when it's time to do the dishes) and walking for any length of time. But it is tons better than when I went into therapy in May - a year after my back surgery.

Maddie, good for getting back on the horse. That's not always an easy thing to do.

I think I successfully jumped the hurdles this weekend - we tend to eat out several meals and I believe I made excellent choices - even passing the offered samples of my dh and son's delicious looking cake at Cracker Barrel on Saturday.

Walked for 2 hours at an antique show yesterday - until I felt if I took one more step, I would break down and cry. To think I used to walk 8 miles a day at work. Hope I can get there again!

OUCH... I hit a bump in the road today. Was visiting at a friends house and just didn't manage to control my eating very well. But as soon as I got home, I packed my lunch for work in the morning. I made sure to measure everything and reward my self for that (with a non-food reward). I am also planning on going swimming a minimum of twice this week. When I complete my goal, I plan to schedule myself for a pedicure as a treat.

This is so hard... but I am determined to get through this!

Yes, I've noticed all those things you mentioned. It isn't difficult to maintain at this point. I changed my lifestyle permanently. And I'm not as obsessed with it as I was. And, like you, I just returned from a trip to NY where I ate a lot, and walked a lot too, and didn't gain a pound.

I've been on maintainance for about the same time as you have and it's just been recently that I've felt more comfortable with food. Something clicked with me a few months ago that no matter what, I KNOW that I can maintain this weight loss and if I do gain 1 or 2 pounds, I can immediately loose by staying on top of things. I know for me, this will be a life long thing but it doesn't feel like a battle anymore. We were just away for 5 days and I did great with exercise but ate more than usual. In the past, that would have made me crazy and worried. I'm at the point now that I know that I can get right track so I enjoyed all my outings in Chicago and all my indulgences.
