Use this folder to discuss all things culinary.

Utilize it as a place to post the foods you're planning to eat daily or weekly. Think of it as a source of accountability.

Sometimes when we say things out loud they tend to sink in more. When we post them for the world - or in this case - this totally supportive online community to see, we're more apt to follow through.

Today ended up getting completely changed up as well but for the better:
Breakfast was the usual, lunch was soup and a piece of fried pickle, snack was a small plum and some ww pretzles (1/2 a serving) and dinner what was planned. I only got in 15 mins of a run before it started pouring so it was an off day.

Tomorrow we'll be at my parents for a combo lunch/dinner. I'll have my usual breakfast and then a snack around 11:30 so I don't end up starving. I've already used my alcohol calories for the week so I'll be sticking with water.

I won't be on much for the weekend so I hope everyone has a good one. I'll be back on Monday.

Wednesday was definitely not an "on plan" day. I bagged my healthy snack and had a serving and a 1/2 of Tings with my dd (OK in terms of calorie, not in terms of nutrition).

Had some extra bread and wine with dinner as we ended up having friends we haven't seen in a while come over for impromtu drinks around 9 pm.

I did get in two extra walks though (probably 3 - 4 miles worth) in addition to my other exercise.

Plan for Thursday:
B: my usual
L: meeting dh at local Mexican place. We're making this the main meal of the day and I'll probably have either tamales or this shrimp dish that they have
S: will probably just do fruit
D: frittata and bread
E: I may take this as an off day as the weather is horrible (and cold) but if it clears up, I'll get in a power walk.

I can not stand the thought of putting the food into Fitday one more day... but I'll go with my lazy approximation method.

Tuesday

Coffee, 1.5 oz half/half, 2 slice 60 cals/slice toast, smart bal, 1 tsp brown sugar.
60+120+15+15 = 210 cals

11:30 2 apricots, chicken breast sandwich w/ lite mayo and jalapeno jelly and lettuce
40+75+140+40+50+5 = 345 cals

Noon: decaf and 1 cup milk
90 cals cals

Total so far: 555 cals

2:50pm 8 oz yogurt, 1 TB p-nut butter, 1 TBS br. Sugar
110, 100, 50 = 260 cals

Fish sandwich, 2 apricots
2 oz Fish, almost one zucchini, part of a piece of bread, 1 egg white, French roll, ½ tsp oil, homemade tartar sauce,
100, 70+50+30, 250, 30, 50, 40 = 620 cals

(I kind of morphed this recipe for Zucchini “crab” cakes and whirled some cod in a food processor like in KD’s fish cakes… and added the fish to the zucchini cake mix… and I thought that it was very tasty.)

Plus 100 cals for errors -

About 1535 cals total

45 mins on the elliptical. The time flew by, for some reason.

Was going to have milk and fruit in a smoothie… but I’m just not hungry.

I am going to go back to mostly doing my pen and paper logging. I'll come back here when I need to variety or some extra accountability.

I am missing the pen and paper thing- I generally keep my plan in my pocket book along with my to do list.

I have five more weeks until the beach vacation so I'm going back to posting here. I'd love to lose a bit more before I have to live in bathing suits for a week.

Plan for today:
B: 2 slices of whole grain toast with lite cream cheese, 1/2 c of cranberry juice
L: large salad with lots of veggies and shrimp
S: ff yogurt, 1/2 c of granola cereal and berries
D: not sure yet but probably either ww pasta or risotto primavera
E: PT and weight training and possibly a short run if my ankle holds up.

I was also hoping to mow the lawn but the weather forecast isn't looking very promising. My parents said it rained every single day we were away and the lawn looks it and is way long but there is no point mowing if it's too saturated. Oh, and Cori and I are going horseback riding later this afternoon to get her "introduced" to horsecamp.

Denise,
That is hysterical! I am thinking about the "smuggled" burrito and it is making me laugh! Hopefully no rice or beans leaked out and blew out while you played! OMG-for some reason this is just making me laugh every time I think about it. Thanks for the laughs!
You're welcome! I had it triple wrapped. It didn't leak. Had it wrapped in two bags and a napkin. I had some guacamole that comes in a pouch... and had some of that too.

I forgot my cup of coffee/milk at home. We played at 5:30 and were done playing and packing up about 6:30pm. So I ate then. I was glad that I did. I was really hungry and the burrito isn't THAT good just defrosted from the freezer and not reheated... but I just don't like fair food (although I had a large Diet Pepsi before we played). And with avocado squeezed on it... it wasn't THAT bad.

We went out to eat afterwards (which means, by the time we load the truck and go to a restaurant and order beer... it is 8:15 or 8:30pm before we are eating)... and I stuck to my plan and had garlic fries and beer. Was with 10 guys make that musicians... so they ate a lot of my fries and we shared quite a number of pictures of beers... but I didn't have much beer. Like half a cup of two different kinds. I'm glad that I had KD's burrito though... because other wise I would have had a bacon cheese burger and fries. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the fries as much as last year... Frowner Will have to decide what to do next year. I suppose I have a year to think about it.

The reviews here give some good ideas...

However, if you ever do need to take food into a fair... get an old trombone for $10 on ebay... dress in an aloha shirt from Thrift Town and stick the burrito in the bell and say, "I'm with the band". Smiler

* * * * * *

Sunday:

9:30am 2 weird unmatched slices of bread from the freezer which I toasted, smart bal, honey
Coffee, half and half

11:30 apricot, watermelon
Tuna salad sandwich

2pm brown rice, eggplant, yogurt/tahini/cucumber sauce

4pm banana split (whoa… those toppings add up!)

7pm dh made dinner: hot dog on a bun, canned beans, ½ a tomato

PS... I didn't really have 6 TBS of marshmallow cream... but I did have 120 cals worth... just Fitday calls 2 TBS 40 calories.

Sunday plan:

B: PB&J
L: ate breakfast late, will eat dinner a little early
D: turkey burger on ww bun w/ salad & navel orange

Yesterday was fine; I had one meatball at the party and the equivalent of 1/2 c of alcoholic drinks. Drank lots of water and had vegetable soup when we got home.

I'm not very hungry today...having some allergy trouble. Did 1 mile w/ the dog this morning before it got too sauna-like outside.

This week, I will need to focus on feeding myself even though he's out of town, and planning things that I like, are good for me, and that I won't find overwhelming to cook when just one person is eating. (And to not have a turkey burger for dinner every night.)

Just a note on KD's school night burritos: The serving says 10 burritos. We made them Thursday night, the filling in the crock pot(per Peggy suggestion). The tortillas were 8 inch burritos and we made 14 of them. 8 of them are in the freezer, and we ate 6 of them over a few days. I still have about 4 or 5 burritos worth of filling left. Not sure if I under stuffed the burritos. But, I could get 20 burritos out of that filling.

Saturday:

9:30am 2 slices toast, smart bal
Coffee, half and half

11:30 watermelon
Tuna salad sandwhich, ¼ c garbanzos

1:15 apricot, nectarine, banana, milk smoothie

3pm coffee/milk (Really sure that drinking alcohol will not make me play better… but hoping caffeine might... Smiler since band dir. counts off the tunes WAY faster at performances than in rehearsal... may have to find out how much caffeine HE drinks and try and keep up.)

5pm KD’s burrito (snuck into the County Fair in the bell of my horn, since I doubt that outside food is allowed.)

8:30 beer and garlic fries (I think… I hope Smiler)

“Exercise” schlepping stuff across the fair grounds.

Friday

8am toast, smart bal, cinnamon sugar
Coffee, 1/2 oz half and half

10:45 garbanzo/tomato/sweet potato curry, chutney, yogurt
2 apricots

Milk, nectarines, ½ banana, oatmeal smootie

Tuna sandwich at home

El Torido’s
Split a soft taco order with ds (which all the websites say is 675 cals) I think that Fitday overestimated for me, but that is ok. Dh had an enchilada and it was jucky and greasy. I had one bite (so the Fitday overestimate will cover that). None of us finished his dinner. I was happy with my dinner. Both ds and I thought that it was pretty good.
1/2 Corn bread thing, which one website said are 200 cals.

On plan yesterday.

Today

B: 1/2 c granola, 1/2 c 2% milk
L: Subway kid's meal w/ yogurt (we'll be out)
D: We'll be at a party. There will be 5 different "stations," so I'll scout and see what the best choices are (one of the gals going with us is doing Weight Watchers, so I won't be alone!). I won't eat more than salad-plate size while we're there; if I'm hungry when we get home, I'll have 1/2 c ww pasta w/ tomato sauce.

Friday:

Per planned except I skipped pasta with dinner and had 3/4 c oyster crackers instead. The calories were a bit higher, but the dish wanted the crackers and they were so yummy!

P.S. I did not have any planned exercise today, but I counted that I went up and down the steps at home 14 times. I'll get to 16-18 before bed, I'm sure. I am working to build in more activity throughout my day.
