Here is my weight history:

January 13, 04: 180.8# (BMI 27.5)

January 15, 05: 134.6#

January 15, 06: 139.6#

January 15, 07: 141.2# (BMI 21.5)

In spite of some (blush) weight creep, I am still pretty lean.

I'm on day 18 of being back on the healthy eating wagon. A couple more days and I'm at the 21 days to a new habit threshold : )

I've definitely had my white knuckle days, especially in the beginning but everything seems to be falling back into place and feels more natural.

Over the past 18 days, my average calories come out to be 1280/day. I've been loading up on veggies, fruits and complex carbs and for the most part have been feeling very satisfied.

As a result, I've lost 7 pounds (some of that was water retention from FL). I still have more to go to be back into maintenance but it feels so much more doable than it has all year.

I'm really proud of myself that I got through Halloween and the following week without plunging into the candy jar (we still have lots of candy but it's definitely lost its allure.)

This weekend will be a good test for me though as we're going out to dinner tomorrow and then to a party on Saturday. I have my game plan (posted in another thread earlier in the week) and am confident that all will be fine as I'm must more focused on the experience and the company more than the food.

It also feels nice to have the time to participate on the board a bit more again!

My five year of maintenance revelation:
I am in the driver's seat when it comes to food and I'm a h*ll of a good driver.

Welcome back Maddie! If you are interested, we are starting a 7 week challenge tomorrow in the main folder. You can choose any goal that you would like to establish in the next 7 weeks and we'll have a daily check in thread to report on.

Hi,
I am back. Have had a rough time of it-- a LOT of stress at work and I fell back onto eating to calm my nerves. I decided to get back on track and get back to the forum. I have been trying to get the the swimming pool 2-3 times a week... at least 30 minutes. I did discover how much better my stress was relieved after an evening in the pool. So! I just want to get back to a group that understands this struggle.

thanks and glad I am back!

Maddie

Oh, Sabina, I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I think back pain is some of the worst because it is so uncomfortable to do ANYTHING. Hang in there and take it easy 'til you heal. The weight will come off when you are feeling better.

Not doing so good with the loosing of the weight. I have some how torn a muscle in my back and can not really excerzie.Sitting, walking or any movement at all is very painful. I also have a feeling that the medication they have me on is not helping the weight any either.

Lori just wanted to let you know I found the WATP basic package for only $20.48, including postage, on eBay. So mine are on the way. Can't wait to get started with them. Thanks again! Smiler

Thanks Bee!

My husband needs the extra bites too. And...he doesn't mind them either. Wink

Way to go Max!
As you know, I'm working on that myself.

I had a similar victory yesterday morning when I couldn't finish my english muffin. Instead of forcing down the last couple of bites, I offered it up to my husband who needs the extra calories ; )

Way to go on your pact with your husband Betty Jo! That's a great victory to celebrate. And good for you Lori for jumping in and getting started again. Sometimes the hardest thing is to take the first step.

All that said...I've been thinking lately about a conversation Denise and Bee were having before the holidays about the "full button" and how it works. That kept tugging at me because mine seemed "broken" for a long time.

I've been trying to eat more mindfully and slowly lately. And today I had a small victory for myself. Granted, it's just a start but I have to start somewhere.

My husband invited me out to lunch today. That's a big deal for me because I never leave my office during the day. We went to a nice little Italian place and I had a salad of beautiful field greens and dressing on the side. For the first time in my life I didn't dump the dressing on the salad and I only used barely half of it. To be honest with myself, usually I'd order extra and use it all.

When my meal arrived the portion was huge. Instead of one piece of chicken (which is what the description sounded like) there appeared to be at least three huge pieces in the mix with the vegetables. I ate slowly and enjoyed every bite, but I still have about 3/4ths of my lunch in the fridge for tomorrow and the next day if I want it.

Sorry this is so long but I knew the people gathered here would understand. Unlike my sisters or the people I work with who would think I'm crazy for having the "full button" problem in the first place.

Way to go Lori! What is the WATP DVD?

Hi bj,

WATP= Walk Away The Pounds, it is a series of exercise DVDs that use in home walking (you walk and march and kick, etc, in place) made by Leslie Sansone I have been using these DVDs since my journey first began in Sept. 2001. It is a GREAT low impact way to start and continue exercising.

Blessings,

Lori
