My time away was so good for me. I realized that I wanted to clean up my eating a bit- not make calories the bottom line. For some reason seeing all the thin, well healed people in PB and simply being in a lovely place with time to think and rest inspired me to want to take better care of my eating.
(I note that I was eating quite well, but had a constant issue with fruit-- not wanting to "waste" the calories there. I'd rather have a larger bowl of cereal or more at lunch.)
Anyway, since coming home I have really made a change. I am now eating at least 2 servings of fruit per day and am really liking how I feel. I KNOW this is good for me and I can tell that my body liking the change.
This means that with 2-3 fruits per day and 4-6 veg servings each day I am getting about 8 F and V each day.
This whole process has left me knowing that I need time out of my routine to rest so that I can make better choices.
Thanks for the opportunity to share. This is a biggie for me. Even though I am maintaining, this feels like a loss of 5 pounds.
Isn't it funny that we think that eating fruits and vegetables are "wasting" calories. I used to think the same thing, but after realizing that I was getting more "bang" for my calories with fruits and veg., I've learned they are my friends and eat more of them than I do carbs.
Congrats on the changes you are making!
It's never too late to get it right.

Sandy, Good for you in finding out what your body really needs. I think it is good for everyone to take time out of our crazy lives to just relax and reflect. It is the craziness of everyday life that gets me into food trouble. Wow, 8 F and V a day-that is excellent!
