I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant and have been having "all day sickness" (I'm not complaining by-the-way...I've been trying for 12 years to have a child). The last thing I feel like doing is exercising. I'm afraid that if I'm not able to exercise, I will un-do all of the progress that I've made.
How are you feeling? I hope a bit better although I hear it lasts for a while. What have you been doing differently and are there any books you have purchased yet that you found extremely helpful?
Congratulations. On my last pgcy, I was sick all day for 5 months too. It really sucked (sorry, but it did). I walked and I also did Kathy Smith's pregnancy video and Denise Austin's pregnancy video. They were very easy and it really made a difference, especially when it came to sleeping at night. Later on in the pregnancy, I started doing the 2 mile walk away the pounds when I didn't have time to get out and walk (hubby's a golf pro and I was pg during the summer with 2 children 3 yrs. and 18 mos. so I didn't get out ever day for a good walk, but I could do the video while they napped). Between getting up to pee and just feeling lousy, it was tough to sleep too much but the more I exercised, the more the feeling went away. Also, I menued out everything I ate and it really evened out my blood sugar so that made me feel better too. Don't forget: lots and lots of water (at least 64 oz.) and seriously, six small meals a day with lots of fresh fruits and veggies incorporated. Best of luck!
Congratualtions on your pregnancy. How are you feeling now? I think that it is fine eto do what you can and to take good care of yoursefl as you feel sick. I also had all day sickness for about 5 months and found it pretty difficult to do almost anything. I wish that I had had a good food plan to help with the naseau.
I wish you the best! Infertility and miscarriage are two things that NO couple should have to endure. I hope things work out for you. Let me know if you want/need to chat.
Hugs, Kimberly

My little girl is 2 and when I was pregnant walking was the best for me. Even if I just walked for about 15 - 20 minutes it made the biggest difference in how I felt.
Thank you all for your kind words. This baby is wanted more than you can imagine...I need two hands to count the number of miscarriages I've had.
My RE (reproductive endocrinologist) encourages me to exercise as much as possible. He recommends walking of course, and says very, VERY low impact aerobics is okay.
It is supposed to be a gorgeous weekend here in Ohio, so a few walks are planned!
Contgratulations CL!! I am so happy for you!! As I've said before, I gave birth for the first time 2 yrs ago (at the age of 38.) I had a miscarrage 3 yrs before that and we had been trying for several years to have a child. This is such a special time for you. I agree with the others about not pushing yourself and to follow your Dr.'s instructions. Something that helped me some was to make sure that even on the days that I was just going to be at home, I still put on make-up, fixed my hair and so on. Small movements will sometimes help give you the energy and motivation to get through the day. Again, I am so happy for you!!
Just wanted to add my CONGRATULATIONS---the most important thing here is that you take good care of yourself and the baby. As the others have said walking is best and then whatever the Dr OKs. When you do feel better you might think about a water aerobics class (if your OB ok's it) for expecting moms==I know many of the Y's and other health facilities have them available. We look forward to hearing about your progress, I know you are just ecstatic about this experience. Children are wonderful! Have a great evening. IVA
I'm with the others...do what you can (even just taking a stroll outside if the weather permits would be helpful) but don't push yourself. Check with the doc as to what you should be doing exercise-wise.
Take care of you and baby!

That is awesome news! I can understand the all day sickness, I have been pregnant 6 times and I was sick with all of them! (For those of you that know I have 4 children, I had two miscarriages). With my last pregnancy, I walked and exercised all the way through, and my "all day sickness" was GREATLY lessened with that pregnancy. I was able to continue eating healthfully (with the others, there were very few foods that I could eat taht didn't make me sick), and only gained 16 pounds the whole pregnancy. They all came off VERY quickly too!
Even if all you can do is walking, keep walking. It should help. Just walk at a pace that you are comfortable with. Also, remember that the American College of Obstetrics and Gynocology (ACOG) recommends that you don't let your heart rate get above 140 beats per minute (bpm).
Blessings,
Lori

I am so happy for you . Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am 35 weeks pg now, but I can still remember my first trimester as if it were yesterday. I spent most of the second half of it, lying on the couch, did not feel like exercising, or doing anything else. I think it is just normal and you have to give your body a break. It is changing drastically right now, and it really needs to adapt to the new pregnancy phase. Just try to go for a walk in order to change air. In any case you should be careful during your first trimester not to strain yourself even if you feel like you want to exercise. You have to ask your doctor what type of exercises are best and go easy on those. By your 13 or 14 weeks all this will go away and you will have the energy again. You will be looking for stuff to do, working out will be just not enough to fill your need for movement and energetical spirit. Although I didn't exercise that much during my first trimester, I lost 10 pounds, because I didn't have any appetite to eat anything. So I just ate to live as they say. But all that changed by the second trimester. Hang in there, it'll be over soon. Focus on the nice and positive side, your boDy is preparing for a miracle !! CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN .

You do what you can, and as much as your doc recommends. You are going to gain weight, it won't be all fat, it will be baby, and that's the way it is supposed to be. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with "all day sickness" the whole time, and you will start feeling better soon. Then ask the doc what you should and can be doing. Take it easy and be good to the baby and you. Walking is the best I've heard, but then it's been 21 years since I had my first. Good luck to you, I am so happy for you. Prayers that all goes well.
It's never too late to get it right.
