Another question---- do you think sugar is better/worse/the same as HFCS with regards to your health. (I don't avoid HFCS per se, but I do avoid lots of sugary, processed foods so that I am cutting out many foods with HFCS.)
I'm kind of with you Sandy. I haven't avoided HFCS per se, but while I have a ways to go thanks to what other family members want, I try not to buy too much processed food. I don't know that HFCS is any worse than sugar, but to me things sweetened with real sugar, particularly surgar that isn't as refined as refined sugar just seem to taste better to me. I don't know if it is psychological or not, but they do.

Mercury is obviously bad, but the IATP study is talking about Parts Per TRILLION of mercury. I wonder how that compares to canned tuna, and other seafood.
I think the differnce Sheltieguy is that tuna and other fish, while it may have more mercury in it has been deemed healthy enough in other regards to make it worth to still eat it. There is really no nutritional value to HFCS.

I don't buy anything with HFCS but we try to eat as chemically free as possible in general. I'm sure we get it though when we eat out and when dd gets candy from school and Halloween.
I'm thankful for our organic market which makes it easy to find breads, english muffins, crackers, and snacks that don't have any man made ingredients.

This thread prompted me to take a look in my pantry. I/We don't have much with HFCS.
The crackers we have a Kashi TLC Honey Sesame- no HFCS. (BTW, I buy these mostly because they are quick, healhty for dd AND I do NOT go after them. I had to do away with Cheddar Bunnies.)
I have some light cran juice- no HFCS. It does have Splenda.
We eat plain oats for cereal.
Brownberry bread- no HFCS
Stoneyfield yogurt- no HFCS
Yoplait yogurt- yes to HFCS
Pretzels- whole grain TJ brand- yes to HFCS.
milk, cheese, fruit, veg, pasta, meat all without HFCS.
What are your major sources of HFCS?
