I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on Kefir. I got some today to try to use in smoothies.

Does anyone use this on a regular basis? Is it better than just good ol' milk? How do you use it?

Well, if I'm back (hi y'all!), I might as well start here....

Migas (Mee-gahs)
http://www.edhardykleidungverkaufen.com/
A Tex-Mex dish, basically made from leftovers.
-Tortillas
-Eggs
-Other Stuff (some things we've liked: drained can of Ro-Tel tomatoes; drained & rinsed black/kidney/red beans; potato, either shredded or chopped small; onions & green peppers)

Cut tortillas (any kind--whole wheat, corn, flour--one per person you're feeding) into small squares (1/2 inch-a pizza cutter's great for this) and toss them in a skillet, either with a pat of butter or non-stick spray. http://www.linkslondonsale.com/charms.html Cook them on medium until they get a teensy bit crispy.

I drank it back in the 70's or early 80's... before yogurt was really popular.
I haven't bought any since Jimmy Carter was president. Smiler

I'd watch out that kefir today is some kind of sweet calorific yogurt drink, marketed as "healthy". Smiler

I usually buy nonfat plain yogurt and add my own sweeteners.

I have tried it a few times and I just don't like it. I prefer yogurt in my smoothies.

But I have a friend who is a respiratory therapist who says that Kefir really helps her kids with their asthma... I suppose if you mix it with enough fruit, it wouldn't be too bad, but for the extra cost, I would rather spend my money on yogurt.
