Hello my friends!! Happy Friday! The week, I am sure, has had it's ups and downs. We have all felt some struggles and successes, but here we are at the end of the week, preparing for the weekend, getting revved up for the coming week!! Last Friday I spoke a little bit about what is holding us back! This week, I want to go a step further and say, OK, now try something new. I have never played a sport in my life, nothing, no team anything ever! I will say that as a kid what held me back was that I felt a bit shy and afraid that if I couldn't do it everyone would laugh at me. I kind of carried that through my life. I have always been pretty outgoing, but the older I got, the less I felt capable of competing in sports I really knew very little about. It has held me back forever, always afraid to try, always afraid of judgement. I bought a tennis racket a few years ago because I had thought about taking some lessons. That never happened. I felt like people would laugh at me. Well, today, I am proud and happy and even excited to say that I took my first tennis lesson!! This was probably one of the best days in my life. Most of the girls in the group have played for a long time and yet were very supportive and helpful. I had such a good time and a fantastic workout. I was on cloud nine all day. I finally participated in a sport, in spite of my own insecurity. I stepped out on the ledge and jumped and man does it feel good! So, this weekend, I strongly suggest you try something new. You will feel good about accomplishing something you may not have felt like you could. It will leave you feeling empowered, like you could do anything!! It may be something seemingly as small as walking 1/2 mile or jumping rope, riding a bike or rollerblading!! I am so proud of everyone here!! We have set our hearts on being healthy well rounded people! We support one another and lift each other up when we are down and share in our successes!! We all can reach our goals, it is a voyage we don't take alone!! Let's all try something new my friends!!

Something new.....hmmmm...switched breakfast and lunch around today, that was new. WE'll see if it's a good move.
For the weekend, I think we will try eating a little earlier dinner. We seem to be on the run so much, that perhaps an earlier dinner say, 5:00 rather than 7:00 is a good move. Can't hurt to try. And will grill out all weekend. Got some great vegies at the market today.... and we'll try those out.
It's never too late to get it right.

Good homework, unfortunately I am working all weekend, but, I am going to try getting up early Sat/Sun and exercising before I leave, I always get up with just enough time to get ready and run out the door. Also, I have emailed someone in Philly about taking an adult beginners rowing class and am considering taking a Tai Chi class, hopefully i can afford all this, maybe I should find something new that is not so costly. Have a great weekend everyone and have fun w/your new thing! Jill
Summer Challenge Goals: 1) Walk 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week 2) Plan weekly menus
Hey Denise, I am not sure why you can't read it. Something like that happened to me a few weeks ago. The print was really tiny. I went into the systems or settings and qued it to go back to the original settings. It restored the system to the prior month and that fixed it. I don't know how much I can help.

I got an exercise ball a few weeks ago and have it all blown up, but don't know what to do exactly. This morning I was told of a ball class that is on Tuesday from 9-10 so I am going to take it before school starts so that I have some clue of what to do on it.
I hope I don't look like a fool
Kat
Goal: Exercise at least 3 times per week.
Remember the positives.

I need paragraphs or the post broken up somehow... The original post is really hard for me to read, all squished into one paragraph... And I WANT to read your homework...
Thank you!!!!

Bee, I have actually thought about trying rock climbing. Maybe one day. My husband and I were talking about taking some dance lessons. Jen, I am glad you decided to have a fun day, sometimes that is something we neglect in our busy lives of lots to do!! I was reading these posts and thought that the feeling I had after trying tennis was kind of like when I was a kid and baked my first cake and everyone loved it. I am so glad I replaced it with tennis!! On another note, I have not mentioned yet, but I have lost about 15 pounds. I am hoping my new zest for exercise is going to get me to my goal weight. Right now I am off to mow the lawn. Have a great weekend everyone!!!! MJ

Well, I'm already doing a new sport with training for the marathon, but I took a chance and it really paid off.
Last night I realized I have been crabby and unhappy for days and that I felt like there was no fun in my life lately. I wasn't allowed to take time off in June or July because of a big project I was working on. Jesse is still off this week because school hasn't started yet. I had taken a vacation day today to take my final prelim exam but I didn't feel ready for it. So I rescheduled the exam for next Friday and I have a free day today!
I needed some time for fun. Right now we're hanging out in Panera but later today we'll be just bumming around and relaxing.

I just spent some time finding out about rock climbing classes in our area. I've wanted to try it for a really long time and today's homework is the push I needed to finally do some work in finding out where and when.
I'm going to talk to a friend today who also expressed interest in doing it and I'm going to see if we can make an appointment for the intro class next weekend. If she can't do it, I'll go it alone : )
Thanks MJ!
P.S. As an added bonus, my dh wants to do it with me!

MaryJo - good for you for taking those tennis lessons. I bought a tennis racket last year and thought about taking lessons, but have never done it. (I never participated in sports as a child, so I understand how you feel) I've been looking at taking an adult swimming class, too. I know how to swim, but could use some help with my strokes. I'll have to check and see when the class is offered, but this just may be the push I need.
90 day goal: 4 days of cardio, 3 days of strength training each week.
Mary Jo Good for you!!!! I smiled all the way through your post : )
I'll have to give some thought to what I'm going to try and get back to you. I'll be at my work gym on Saturday for the better part of the morning so I'm sure I can find something new to do.
