Hey all! I looked around for a decision about the dvd before I went and made up a new topic about it, but couldn't find one. So, here are my thoughts about it.
I hate buying new dvds because I'm always afraid I'm going to hate the workout. But I think this one is going to be one I'll use more frequently than I first thought. I used a gift card to purchase it at Borders.
This DVD is broken up into 6 different workouts. Then you have the choice of choosing 1 of 4 workouts that they set up for you, or you can customize your own workout from the 6 options that they have on the dvd.
I tried the 20 min. boot camp one tonight because I didn't want to invest a lot of time in working out today. I was really surprised at how much of a workout it was. I was as tired after this 20 min. as I am after 20 min. with my personal trainer. (She has no worries though, I like the time I spend with her.)
The cardio workouts will be getting some serious attention from me in the next week. I'm pretty enthused about the dvd, and I'll keep you posted as I try them.
Oh, the one thing I didn't like was the one girl on the dvd who complained about how painful it was to workout through the entire 20 min. I could have lived without that. But I liked the trainer. He reminded me of my trainer, in the "yes, I know it burns, but you're doing great" kind of way.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
I haven't done the weight workout in quite a while due to my injury, but I recall it being a much more intense lower body workout than upper.
What I love is the cooldown where Bob is "just standing here on a rock" and he leads the group through a tai chi-like cooldown. Very nice.
My biggest complaint about the DVD is in the cardio segments, where all they use is the Biggest Loser TV show background music and it isn't loud enough (or doesn't have a strong enough beat) to keep time with...as a result, the exercisers are getting off track with one another and with Bob and I'm getting off track with them. I find it highly annoying, but I do enjoy the DVD on the whole.

I was wondering what you guys all thought about the sculpting workout. It didn't seem like we spent much time working with the actual weights, especially with the upper body. I actually thought that section, along with the warm up, needed a bunch of improvement.
I liked the high and low intensity cardio, though. Just not enough to give up my beloved Turbo Jam, running, and other aerobics DVDs. BL v.1 will be a great short workout day (ie school days) option. It does a great job on the legs, I have to admit.

It sounds like the one you have is the same one I have--The Biggest Loser, Volume 1, where Bob Harper from the TV show is the trainer. The ones that Jillian has out (there are several called The Biggest Winner) are not associated with The Biggest Loser TV show. The second DVD I'm talking about is the Biggest Loser, Volume 2. That one has both Bob Harper and the new female trainer, Kim, from the TV show.
I'm interested in hearing whether it's as good as the first one and especially interested in hearing if Kim is annoying on the workout DVD as she is on the TV show. I don't care for her much and I'm not sure I want to buy Volume 2.

Laura: Is this the old Vol. 1 or the brand new Vol. 2? If it's the one with just Bob Harper as the trainer, then that's Vol. 1. If it's the one where there is both a male and a female trainer, that's Vol. 2. I have had Vol. 1 for 6 months or so and really enjoy it but haven't bought Vol. 2 yet. Waiting to hear from someone who has it. I think Paula got it for Christmas and I'm waiting to hear back from her about it after she tries it out.
