I'm a board member for a local community theater, and we are looking at trying to draw more people to the theater. Are there events or plays that you've felt you have to go see or participate in?
The local high school did a play of the game "Clue" a couple of years ago and it was really fun. At the end, the audience had to try to guess who did it, in what room and with which weapon.
Other plays I have enjoyed have been "Alice and Wonderland" (I was in it.), "Fools", "Visit to a Small Planet", "Charlie's Aunt", and "Dracula".
The high school is doing "A Flea in Her Ear" in a couple of weeks. I'll go see it if I'm not working and can tell you how it is. "Peter Pan" was OK last year, and I heard "Singing in the Rain" was extremely boring.

I like a play called "Noises Off" (it is also a movie). It is hilarious . I first saw it put on by the theatre group at Dena's high school and later discovered that it was also a movie.
Two other's that I love are Harvey and Arsnic & Old Lace.
You might also try one of those murder mysteries that gets the audience involved.
We love Shakespeare in the Park type stuff. Our local community theater does a performance every summer on our town square and it's always a blast. What I love about it is that they always do a play that they can add some extra comic relief with modern day references. It's a great way to introduce kids to the arts.

Eugene O'Neill's play "Long Day's Journey Into Night" is extremely powerful, if you are looking for a tragedy. (I have read it, but not seen it.) It's said to be his best work.
The play won a Pulitzer Prize, and the playwright won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
